These days, you practically have to take out a loan to get to a concert. Once you add up the travel, food, drink, parking, and if necessary, lodging expenses, the cost of one single show can easily skyrocket to more than a couple of benjamins. And that’s even before you throw the actual ticket on the expense pile. If you want a ticket that’s not up in the nosebleeds, it’ll generally run you a pretty penny.
Most of that is thanks to Live Nation and Ticketmaster, who have made the ticket buying experience one full of dread and an inordinate amount of additional, secretive fees. The good news is that there have been many steps in the right direction to end Ticketmaster and Live Nation’s reign of terror when it comes to excessive ticket pricing.
Back in April of last year, the Justice Department sued both Ticketmaster and Live Nation for running an illegal monopoly. Then in March of this year, President Trump signed an executive order to ban ticket scalping and ensure competition laws were enforced.
And just last month, the Federal Trade Commission (as well as seven states) got in on the fun and also sued the two parties for deceptive ticket pricing and unfair ticket practices. Specifically, the FTC pointed out in the lawsuit that the Defendants (Ticketmaster & Live Nation) have enabled the system to where they can “triple dip.”
Long story short, artists don’t want their fans to have to pay an arm and a leg to come see their live show, and Zach Top seemingly figured out a work-around with this $25-day-of deal that he just announced for his upcoming show in Knoxville, Tennessee that’s a part of his Cold Beer and Country Music Tour 2025.
The “I Never Lie” singer is set to play at the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on Thursday, October 9, and though fans only have a heads up of just over 24-hours, they’ll have the opportunity to see the rising country star for a smooth $25 bucks, as Top explained in a message that was shared by the venue:
“I want all my fans to have the opportunity to see my shows! So if you weren’t able to get a ticket yet, come out to the box office on the day of the show for a chance to grab tickets for $25 while supplies last! Can’t wait to see you there!”
That’s a true blessing right there. If you are in the Knoxville area, you can’t afford not to go see Zach Top for $25.
It’s a really cool thing that Top is doing, and it’s somewhat similar to what Zach Bryan did for his August Red Rocks show, where tickets were only on sale the day of the concert to help fans avoid excessive ticket prices. Shout out to the Zach’s of country music for looking out for us country music fans, eh?
