Academy Award winning actor Cillian Murphy wasn’t going to act like he was enthused with Taylor Swift… and now he’s become a viral sensation because of it.
The Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders star is often a guest on The Graham Norton Show – a British comedy talk show – and Murphy’s most recent stop by the program had him seated next to pop star Taylor Swift. As you likely already know, Swift has had quite the bust past couple of months. She and her NFL football playing boyfriend, Travis Kelce, got engaged. Then, just a couple of days ago, the pop star released her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl.
It’s the recent album drop that landed her on Graham Norton’s show. While she was on a guest, she discussed her newest musical project… but obviously the talk show host was a tad more interested in Swift’s recent life development. Taylor Swift called it a “hardware upgrade” as she showed off her massive diamond ring.
Swift also mentioned that her wedding planning has been on hold so that she could get The Life of a Showgirl out to all of her rabid fans:
“You know… I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning. I think it will be fun to plan.”
Meanwhile, the Irish-born actor was just sitting on the couch next to Taylor Swift the whole time looking at her like this:
That’s some nasty R.B.F. if I’ve ever seen it… and if you don’t know what that means, look it up.
There’s no doubt that Swifties were perturbed by Cillian Murphy’s disinterest and indifference to the latest, exciting happenings in Taylor Swift’s life. In the actor’s defense, his facial expressions often draw a lot of attention, because he really just doesn’t seem to love being around people and doing interviews all that much. In fact, he’s been on record multiple times saying how much he hates doing interviews and press… even for a big film like Oppenheimer.
So it could just be that.
But I’m here to tell you that it’s impossible not to notice how little fun it seems Cillian is having as he sits right next to one of the most famous people in the entire world. Though Swift’s engagement ring was supposed to steal the show, it was Murphy’s cold, apathetic facial expressions that actually got the most attention during Taylor’s guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

Hilarious. I know there are a lot of “Swifties” out there, but Cillian Murphy represents the part of the population that doesn’t call themselves Taylor Swift fans.
As Swifties were likely losing their minds that Cillian didn’t seem to care for about the music icon’s engagement, new album and wedding planning, fans of The Graham Norton Show took to the comments to commend Murphy for sticking to his guns and continuing to (seemingly) not care at all about anyone else:
