Kevin Costner has a type.
The separation of Costner and his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, was quite the messy ordeal. Back in May of 2023, Christine filed for a divorce from the Yellowstone star, and the divorce reportedly “blindsided” Kevin. The proceedings that followed after the papers were filed can definitely be categorized as an “ugly divorce.”
Things first started going sideways when Christine wouldn’t leave the Costner household, even though the prenuptial agreement clearly stated that she had a deadline to vacate the premises. Most of the other issues involved in the split revolved around money, and specifically the fact that Christine felt entitled to a lot of it.
Christine wanted to take the divorce to a “mini trial” over a disagreement in the prenup, and argued that a waiver of spousal support should have been enforced. In doing so, she asked Kevin to fund the case, which would have spelled out to be somewhere around $885,000 to cover all of the fees (that never ended up happening).
And that wasn’t the first time that Christine tried to ask for a boat-load of money from Kevin Costner. Baumgartner was Costner’s second marriage, and they share three children together: Cayden, Hayes, and daughter Grace. She was originally asking for around $250,000 a month for child support, and when it went to court, the judge decided that $63,000 a month would be plenty.
It certainly seems like both Baumgartner and Costner were happy to get the divorce behind them, and neither took long to move on after the split. Only a couple of months after the divorce, Costner’s ex-wife vacationed with a close family friend. They denied any romantic rumors early on… but then they got engaged earlier this year.
As for Costner, he’s reportedly dated here and there since the split, and the 70-year-old was recently rumored to be with someone that’s over 20 years younger than him. And if that’s not spicy enough news for you, Costner’s new woman, Kelly, looks a whole lot like his ex-wife Christine.

Costner and Gores were rumored to be connected after they both attended the JAS Labor Day Experience festival near Aspen, and were spotted spending time with one another… even though they were at the event separately. A source close to Kevin Costner then confirmed the relationship, telling the Daily Mail:
“He has been seeing Kelly. They were together in Aspen in late July. He has tried to keep it very hush hush because he doesn’t want this to go off the rails. She is exactly his type and they have a lot in common: the outdoors, sports — she likes to surf — long walks with dogs. Also she has young kids and he loves kids, so he thinks that’s cute. He says she is just ‘chill,’ which is what he needs right now.”
Guess it’s good that both Costner and Baumgartner are moving on and getting over?
It’s always a little strange though when someone gets out of a relationship and becomes romantic with another person that resembles their former partner. But hey… I’m not judging Kevin Costner. I’m just helping to point it out. Hopefully the former Yellowstone star is happy with his new relationship, and willing to weather all of the “She looks a lot like his ex-wife” comments.
