Morgan Wallen Fans Sound Off On Awkward SNL Teaser: “He Looks Like He Hates Her”

It’s SUPPOSED to be awkward…

Morgan Wallen is set to be the musical guest at Saturday Night Live this weekend, and he had quite a journey to his SNL debut back in 2020, when long story short, he was filmed partying (maskless and making out with about a dozen college girls) down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the week before his scheduled debut on Saturday Night Live during the thick of the COVID outbreak. They gave him the boot for being irresponsible about his pre-show quarantine, but also said he would be invited back in the future.

Two months later, Wallen made his big debut, and they made an actually pretty funny sketch about his pre-show shenanigans. Alongside host Jason Bateman, Bowen Yang and Pete Davidson, Morgan takes the opportunity to revisit some of his decision making that night in Tuscaloosa.

This time, he’ll play some tunes alongside host and actress Mikey Madison (Anora, Better ThingsOnce Upon a Time… in Hollywood), and SNL shared a taste of what’s to come in a new teaser posted on social media.

In the video, they talk about New York City, being drunk, and all the awards host Mikey Madison and SNL’s Chloe Fineman have won, and overall, the video is just… awkward. And while the SNL promos are always pretty corny and awkward, that’s kind of the point. They’re always like this.

Nevertheless, Morgan barely said a word:

I’m not sure how thrilling it would really be to be a guest on SNL, but I have to imagine Morgan’s just playing into it and trying to be funny, but a lot of fans seemed to take it very literally and I think the joke might’ve been lost on them… it’s a sketch comedy show, people. It would be weird to agree to the gig if you thought they weren’t going to make fun of you, or that you wouldn’t have to make fun of yourself.

I assume we might see him in another sketch or two once the show airs on Saturday evening, but fans on TikTok certainly took notice to the fact that Morgan looked over it:

“Why does he look like he hates her.”

“Morgan looks so thrilled to be there”

“Doesn’t anyone see the humor in this? Talking about their awards in front of someone who gets snuffed at awards shows?”

“He’s wondering why his manager made him do this…. lol.”

“He does not wanna be there lol.”

“Yeah, Morgan definitely doesn’t wanna be there”

“He’s like ‘I’m done with this sh*t.'”

“He looks bored, does he not?”

“Why they do him like that!”

“Morgan is so thrilled with it all!”

“He’s so over it.”

“He looks that way because they are talking about all the awards he has won. It’s a jab on how he gets snubbed all the time.”

“Why is he even doing this.”

“Not Morgan being snubbed again”

Of course, a number of the comments were pretty negative towards Morgan himself, asking things like “why was he even invited?” or “he’s a racist.” But with SNL’s decidedly woke cast and audience, that’s not a surprise…

His original sketch is pretty good, check it out:
