Politics has broken a lot of people’s brains.
Of course we’re in the middle of a heated election cycle, with less than a month to go before the 2024 presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
But you’d think that after two assassination attempts on Trump already, one that came inches from killing him, people would be a little more careful with their rhetoric.
Obviously that hasn’t happened though.
One University of Kansas professor went viral on Twitter this morning after video circulated of him telling students during his lecture that men who won’t vote for a female candidate for president should be “lined up and shot.”
According to the man who’s tasked with educating our next generation:
“There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don’t think females are smart enough to be president.
We can line all those guys up and shoot ’em, they clearly don’t understand the way the world works.”
But after he made his statement, apparently he quickly realized he shouldn’t have said it and asked that it be stricken from the recording.
“Did I say that? Scratch that from the recording. I don’t want the deans hearing that I said that.”
Seriously @UnivOfKansas? You’re letting this be said in your classrooms? That men who won’t vote for Kamala Harris for President should be lined up and shot?? @RogerMarshallMD @JerryMoran pic.twitter.com/7hHihxScEg

Yeah, unfortunately for the professor that’s not how that works. After the clip went viral, the deans did indeed hear that he said that, and the University of Kansas announced that he had been placed on administrative leave:
“The university is aware of a classroom video in which an instructor made an inappropriate reference to violence. The instructor is being placed on administrative leave, pending further investigation. The instructor offers his sincerest apologies and deeply regrets the situation. His intent was to emphasize his advocacy for women’s rights and equality, and he recognizes he did a very poor job of doing so. The university has an established process for situations like this and will follow that process.”

The professor has reportedly been identified as Dr. Phil Lowcock, a professor in the Health Sport & Exercise Science department and the Director of International Student-Athlete Support in the athletic department, as well as the primary advisor for the baseball team.
Lowcock’s biography has already been scrubbed by the school website:

And US Senator Roger Marshall, who represents the state of Kansas, has condemned the professor’s comments and called for Lowcock to be terminated:
UPDATE: We have been in touch with the Chancellor’s Office, and they have confirmed that this professor has been placed on immediate administrative leave.
This guy shouldn’t be within 100 yards of a university and I am calling for his swift termination. https://t.co/RQyi1BGZre

Only a month before the election and everybody can get back to normal…right?
