A honky tonk heater.

For the first time in nine yers, Dwight Yoakam is putting out new music, and his first release features superstar Post Malone on a song called “I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom).”

Yoakam most recently released his Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars… album in 2016, his first true bluegrass record (that also included a cover of “Purple Rain”).

Of course, the two have teamed up in the past, as Malone used Yoakamn’s band for that viral performance he did for the We’re Texas benefit concert when he sang “You Can Have The Crown and “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” and Malone recently made an appearance at Yoakam’s LA concert to sing onstage with him.

Considering their history and the massive success Post has had in country this far with his #1 F-1 Trillion album, this seems like a natural choice and a helluva way for Dwight to kick off this new era of music.

“I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)” is part of Dwight’s new album  Brighter Days, which is set for release on November 15th. More details are still forthcoming on the rest of the tracklist.

Yoakam and Malone were previously spotted filming some sort of music video for this tune on the sunset strip, so that’s likely coming our way soon too.

I think both artists actually sound amazing vocally here, and it’s cool to see Malone working with one of his musical heroes, which will certainly help garner a lot of attention from an entirely new audience for Yoakam’s next project. This seems to fit both of their styles so well, and I love hearing this side of Posty in terms of really going all the way there with the country production and lyrics, similar to what we heard on F-1 Trillion: Long Bed.

It’s really a great song, and you can listen here:
