Benjamin Tod is as prolific a songwriter as they come.
Just three months after the release of his latest record Survived with his band Lost Dog Street Band, Benjamin Tod released “I Ain’t The Man” this past July as the defiant lead single for his forthcoming solo project Shooting Star. Now, just a few weeks later, he’s already back at it again with the album’s second single “Satisfied With Your Love,” a heartfelt honky tonk masterpiece that’ll transport you back in time to the steel guitar soaked, whiskey fueled dance halls of yesteryear where this sound would be right at home.
That’s the goal, at least. With each track on the next record inspired by a different era in country music, Tod is attempting to take the listener on a honky tonk time machine, traversing sonically through the genre’s rich history. And in the process, it’s already clear that Tod is just continuing to prove why he’s one of the scene’s most talented and thoughtful songwriters.
Ahead of the new release, Tod took to Instagram to provide some context behind “Satisfied With Your Love.”
“‘Satisfied With Your Love” is a tune that doesn’t need a whole lot of explanation. Ashley Mae and I have been together 17 years and married 13 years. Luckily, our marriage has gotten better with age unlike most relationships I see around me. The last couple years it’s really turned the corner and gotten significantly easier. I guess it just takes that amount of time to really feel each other out enough to give the other person what they need and to be brave enough to ask for what you need.
I owe my career to Ashley in a. lot of ways, but especially in the fact that she has been my primary muse throughout my career. this tune is just an expression finding simple peace and joy within my marriage.”
Now, without further ado, give Benjamin Tod’s “Satisfied With Your Love” a listen for yourself.
“I was a stray with wanderlust
No home since I was just a pup
And all I ever needed was a truer reason
Satisfied with your love”
And while we’re at it, make sure to give “I Ain’t The Man” a listen as well, the lead singer off of Tod’s next album Shooting Star.
