The wait is over: Joshua Quimby‘s brand new album Back Home is finally here.
A follow up to his 2022 self-titled debut record, Quimby’s autobiographical sophomore effort serves as a succinct collection of memories, stories, and themes from his childhood and upbringing in New England that, no matter your origins, evokes a relatable sense of nostalgia.
Featuring 10 tracks that delve into topics of family, growing up, lessons learned, and change, for better or for worse, Back Home is a tremendously personal record in which Quimby touches on several topics close to his heart.
Drenched in pedal steel and fiddle, and illuminated by his uniquely raspy, whiskey-soaked vocals, Quimby’s sound in this latest body of work is about as country as it gets. With stripped back, yet sonically intricate, instrumentation showcasing his deft lyricism and paving the way for his powerful vocal delivery, Back Home is proof that Joshua Quimby is a country artist everyone needs to know, proving that country music is a genre that is at home wherever its spirit resides.
Born in Rhode Island and growing up in rural Connecticut, one of Quimby’s main goals in this record is to shine a light on the country lifestyle he experienced in the Northeast, and to show fans out there that authentic country music can come from anywhere, not just the southern and western hotbeds with which the genre is most heavily associated.
Now that he calls Nashville home, Back Home takes on an even deeper meaning as Quimby reflects on his past yet dichotomously embarks on the next phase of his career with the release of his most important work to date.
The bottom line is, no matter how you look at it, Joshua Quimby’s sophomore record Back Home is an authentic country music masterclass that deserves to be heard by the masses. So, without further ado, dive in on Joshua Quimby’s brand new sophomore project Back Home.

And in addition to the album’s release, Quimby also announced the “Back Home” Tour. His largest headlining run yet, the tour features 25 shows in as many cities across the country in throughout a jam-packed 38 day stretch. Prior to the August 25th commencement in Louisville, KY, though, Quimby has a hometown show in Nashville on Independence Day, and then hosts his own New England country music festival on July 20.
