This is becoming all-too common with the security guards at Nashville bars…
It seems like every few months we hear stories about bouncers who think they’re f*cking Seal Team 6 assaulting patrons at the bars on Broadway in downtown Nashville.
And back in 2021, six employees at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row were indicted after a man died after being restrained by security.
Well now another man has been left on life support after an altercation with a security guard at Tin Roof, a bar on Demonbreun Street in midtown Nashville.
According to a police report, security guard Richard Cornelius had denied 26-year old Austin Turner entry into Tin Roof back on February 18. An altercation ensued while Turner was waiting for an Uber, and according to WSMV, video footage shows Cornelius swinging at Turner several times before striking him and knocking him to the ground.
Turner struck his head and fell unconscious, and medics took him to the hospital after arriving on the scene.
A GoFundMe set up for Turner reveals that he suffered a cranial fracture and bleeding on his brain, and been in a coma ever since.
“Austin became the victim of a senseless act of violence. He was assaulted, and left with a skull fracture that lead to subdural hematoma, which required an emergency craniotomy. Unfortunately, the procedure was not enough to prevent him from suffering a massive strokes in the right hemisphere of his brain. He remains in critical care in a coma.”
And his family tells WSMV that he will soon be taken off of life support.
Cornelius, who is a licensed security guard, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He’s since been released on a $25,000 bond.
