When it comes to that long line of Shania Twain hits, I think I’m always going to have “You’re Still The One,” at the top of my list. A case can be made for a number of her songs, but for me, I’m taking this one every single time.

Written by Shania herself, alongside Robert John “Mutt” Lange, “You’re Still The One” went on to become one of her biggest hits of all time, topping the charts in 1998 and earning four Grammy nominations in 1999. It won two of them.

It’s been covered by everybody from Kacey Musgraves and Lady A, to Kelly Clarkson, Jessie James Decker and a ton more, but I have to say this 2020 version from Teddy Swims might be one of the most impressive. And let’s just state the obvious: you don’t necessarily expect a dude with face tats to be rockin’ out to some late ’90s Shania Twain… unless of course that dude is Post Malone.

However, working alongside super-producer Dave Cobb (who has produced records for Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Whiskey Myers, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell and more), Teddy dedicated this recording to his mom.

“Shania Twain’s ‘You’re Still The One’ brings back so many beautiful memories for me. It’s been one of my Mom’s favorite songs for as long as I can remember. It has always taken me back to such a blissful place in my life. My cover of this song will always and forever be dedicated to my Mother, Glenna. I love you mommy.”

It’s exactly the traditional country stuff we’re accustomed to hearing from Dave Cobb, but Teddy got nod of approval from Shania herself.

And the OG.

He previously released a soulful cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” as well.
