Cody Jinks has some new music on the way, and fans think it could be a metal cover.
That wouldn’t necessarily be out of left field for the uberly talented Cody Jinks – who actually got his start in music industry as a part of a metal band called Unchecked Aggression. A heavy metal cover would be well within his wheelhouse, simply because the Texas native can’t really be put in a box musically. He also has a more recent hard rock project called Caned by Nod.
He’s country, he’s rock, and he occasionally even dips into the heavy metal side of things. His upbringing led him to be interested in all sorts of music, and helped him develop a great appreciation for rock and roll and heavy metal bands. And his musical and vocal talent allows him to cover all of the bases.
We’ve known new music from Jinks has been on the way since March of this year. It was then that the country artist took to Instagram to let fans know that he had officially started recording his next album. At the time, he announced that he’d be in the studio for two straight weeks working on the untitled project:
“We start recording today… We’re gonna be stirring the gravy for the next two weeks, y’all. Whipping up some good, new sh*t for you.”
So could this teaser – which seems to allude to the likes of Alice Cooper or even the 1994 film The Crow – be the first glimpse of that “new sh*t” that Jinks promised? We’re not sure.
All we do know is that the new music is set to drop on October 2.
That’s a little over a week away.
Fans won’t have to wait long to find out what exactly that teaser means, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in the comments trying to figure things out.
Many are guessing that Jinks could be flexing his metal background with whatever is to come, and the “new music” could be a heavy metal cover… or covers:
“Covering Alice Cooper?”
“Almost thought it was King Diamond.”
“Hopefully it’s a cover of Poison.”
“Image seems metal, but who knows? Can’t wait.”
“Covering ‘Burn’ by The Cure from ‘The Crow’ soundtrack?”
Very specific guess, but imagine if that Cody Jinks fan ends up being right?
It would make sense for Cody Jinks to be in more of a rock mindset, considering he’s been on tour with Five Finger Death Punch for much of 2026. The band from Las Vegas, Nevada with hits like “Wash It All Away” and “Wrong Side of Heaven” (you’ve probably heard some of their stuff before) happily brought Jinks along with them on the road, and they’ve proved to be the perfect pairing.
While we’re on the subject… name another country music artist that could go out on the road with a heavy metal band. I’ll wait. Jinks is one of one when it comes to ability to jump back and forth between two very different genres, and touring with Five Finger Death Punch is a testament to his incredible versatility.
