The dating rumors never stop.
Riley Green’s love life is a constant point of speculation among country music fans, and most of us know the lore about him, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley… but to what degree there was ever an actual relationship between Riley and either of them is still purely speculative.
And every few months, Riley breathes the same air as another woman in country music and all of the sudden, a new rumor pops up that fans incessantly focus on for the next several weeks. It’s pretty exhausting, especially when Riley explicitly says that he is in no position to serious date anybody in every interview he does.
He’s recently talked about how he is single and doesn’t plan to be in a committed relationship anytime soon, so I think if he is spotted with someone it’s because they’re seeing each other casually, but that answer simply doesn’t suffice fans… and we’ve seen it time and again. It happens with tons of artists, not just Riley, but whenever a male and female duo team up for a song, you can bet there will be some dating rumors.
So when he and tour opener Hannah McFarland recently released a song for Riley’s forthcoming album That’s Just Me called “Go Again,” fans were once again speculating that there was something going on between them. To be fair, it’s a rather sultry song, finding him pleading with this girl to stay another night with him, telling her they can “lay in this damn bed all day,” “shut the world out” and “go again.”
But it sounds like they’re just friends, as Hannah shared a video of them on stage recently where Riley tried to trip her (jokingly… he wasn’t actually going to make her fall down), and she joked that he might “catch these hands” in front of 25,000 people one day:
“He’s gonna catch these hands in front of 25000 people one of these days.”
@hannahmmcfarlandhe’s gonna catch these hands in front of 25000 people one of these days
And of course, that video led to plenty of comments about the nature of their relationship, like this:
“Are you all seeing each other?”
And Hannah actually replied to it and shut that down, saying she’d rather “chew [her] foot off”:
“I’d rather chew my foot off.”
Alrighty then…
Another person pointed out that she’s been accused of dating every man she’s gone on tour with:
“Are they going to accuse you of dating every man you go on tour with? Lol.”
And Hannah agreed, saying it seems that’s how it’s gonna go:
“It’s seeming that way (send help).”
Then, there were plenty of other comments with people saying things like this:
“My momma always told me the boys that pick on me just have a crush.”
“My mama would’ve said that’s his way of flirting.”
“Some people don’t recognize a healthy friendship and always just assume dating is involved.”
“He’s trying to make you fall for him.”
“Like pushing a girl down at recess. A spade is a spade girlfriend.”
“You get him Hannah…I give you permission lol.”
“So why does everyone think you dated chase rice and now Riley? Do people not understand you can be friends with who you work with.”
It’s human nature to a certain extent for people to think something’s going on between them, and honestly, people want to believe that’s the case. Riley addressed the rumors with Ella a while back saying that he understands why fans speculate… they want the next George and Tammy, the next Tim and Faith.
Plus, all this romantic speculation drums up even more attention for the song, though I think Hannah made it pretty clear that she and Riley are nothing more than friends… the kind of friends you can joke with about wanting to “chew your foot off” instead of dating them.
You wouldn’t think it by listening to this song, though…
“Go Again”
