Surprised it even took this long.
As we sit in 2026, there’s simply no denying that Morgan Wallen and Ella Langley are the hottest stars in country music at the moment. For Wallen, he’s continued to ride the record-breaking highs of his fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, which shattered multiple Billboard chart records en route to becoming the first male country artist since 1993 to receive Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year nod. Couple that with the fact he became the highest-selling country artist last December, dethroning Garth Brooks’ long-standing record, he’s ridden that wave throughout 2026 with his potentially-record-breaking Still The Problem Tour and the release of his new single, “Been By Now,” which debuted at #2 all genre this week .
As for Langley, it truly feels like she can’t stop breaking records over the past six months. Launching off the success of her Riley Green collaboration, “you look like you love me” throughout 2024 and 2025, the Alabama native has become nothing short of a phenomenon thanks to the megahit that is “Choosin’ Texas.”
In case you haven’t been keeping up with “Choosin’ Texas’” success, it just spent its 16th week at #1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. As it stands today, “Choosin’ Texas” is the longest-running #1 hit by a female country artist on the Hot 100, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts simultaneously, the fourth-longest hit in the chart’s history and the longest-running #1 by a female artist this CENTURY.
Of course, the two teamed up back in April for their internet-breaking duet, “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” which not only became the first country duet to ever debut inside the Top 10 on the Hot 100 but also allowed Langley to become the first female country artist to hold three of the Top 4 songs on the chart.
Ironically, it’s been blocked from going #1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs chart on multiple occasions by “Choosin’ Texas” since its release on April 24th. Today, however, it finally reached the top of a chart.
This week, “I Can’t Love You Anymore” officially went #1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, rising from #2 to 1 in its 15th week thanks to 33.4 million audience impressions throughout the country.
For Wallen, it’s his 22nd #1 on the chart. Langley, on the other hand, scored her 5th chart-topper, joining the likes of “Choosin’ Texas,” “Be Her,” “weren’t for the wind” and “you look like you love me.”
Wallen being back at the top is particularly historic. Given the fact that “Don’t We” was at #1 last week, it marks just the third time in Country Airplay’s history that an artist has topped the charts in consecutive weeks with different songs, joining himself (“Cowgirls” and “I Had Some Help”) and Tim McGraw (“The Cowboy in Me” and “Bring on the Rain”) as the only artists to achieve the specific feat.
The #1 comes less than a month removed from the pair scoring the most-listened-to album and song of the year, with Wallen’s I’m The Problem and Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” topping Luminate’s mid-year charts. Simply put, you can’t find a bigger duo in the U.S. right now, regardless of genre.
