Amongst the multitude of other projects that Taylor Sheridan is currently working on, the Yellowstone creator has somehow found the time to write two movies that are set to come out in the next couple of years.
In partnership with Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and 101 Studios, the mind behind shows like Landman and The Madison is getting back into the world of movies. With Andrew Lauren, the producer of The Brutalist, providing original concepts, Sheridan has gotten to work on writing scripts for two different films: Visalia and Capture The Flag. He also wrote a movie called F.A.S.T. that is set for release in April of 2027, however that script was written over a decade ago.
Sheridan is known to have some significant range as a writer, and these two movies that’s he working on simultaneously definitely support that. Visalia will tell the story of a young woman from Cuba risking her life to make it to America, before going back to her homeland:
“‘Visalia’ follows a determined young Cuban woman who escapes the only life she’s ever known, braving treacherous waters and relentless danger in pursuit of freedom in America. But when a historic political shift pulls her back to Cuba, she must confront the uncertain promises of a homeland transformed — and the price she’s paid to survive it.”
The other movie, Capture The Flag, isn’t what you might assume it is. It’ll actually explore a space race of sorts, and even seems to take aim at some of the modern billionaires (like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos) who are busy building rockets as side projects:
“‘Capture The Flag’ throws a NASA engineer into a desperate race to build the first reusable spacecraft capable of traveling to the moon and back, testing his limits, loyalties, and morals when a tech tycoon offers him the chance to make history — if he’s willing to pay for it.”

As previously mentioned, the concepts for the movie were dreamed up by Andrew Lauren. In a statement that he released, the producer stated that these projects have been in the creation process for years, and that he and Sheridan have been working on them together for quite a long time:
“These two projects have been years in the making — ideas I believed in deeply, never anticipating that advances in science and shifts in the political landscape would accelerate their path to realization. I worked on developing them with Taylor long before his emergence as one of the industry’s most distinctive, visionary voices. It’s incredibly rewarding to see his continued passion and commitment to bringing these stories to the screen.”
And it’s also important to note that these movies will not be made for Paramount.
In case you haven’t heard, Taylor Sheridan will be leaving his entertainment home of Paramount for a deal with NBCUniversal in the next couple of years. The creator, writer and director is expected to finish out his TV contract with Paramount (through the end of 2028) and then take his talents to NBC at the beginning of 2029.
Sources are saying that he’ll actually start making movies for NBC Universal at the beginning of 2027, and that the movie side of the deal will run for eight years. On the other hand, the overall deal that Sheridan has struck up with NBCUniversal to make TV shows will start on January 1, 2029, and will reportedly stretch five years… paying Taylor Sheridan somewhere around $1 billion to make 20-plus shows.
With his movie contract with Paramount running out in March of this year (so a couple of months back), these collaborations with Lauren will act as the official introduction to the next, non-Paramount era of Sheridan’s career. It also adds to the seemingly never-ending collection of plates that Taylor Sheridan currently has spinning… we hardly touched on the plethora of TV shows the Yellowstone creator is working on.
He truly is the busiest man in the entertainment industry…
