It’s Ella Langley’s world right now, and everyone else is living in it… including former New York Jets coach and current NFL analyst Rex Ryan.
The “Choosin’ Texas” singer has rocketed to country music superstardom in the past couple of years, and has gotten the attention of country music and non-country fans alike. She’s got crossover appeal, and everyone is jumping on the Ella bandwagon. Most call themselves “Ella Fellas.” I’m not exactly sure what the female Ella fans calls themselves.
One of the most recent names to proclaim to the world that they are an “Ella Fella” is Rex Ryan. The Super Bowl winning coach (as an assistant) and open foot fetish haver (look it up) has transitioned to sports commentary since he last coached in 2016, and just yesterday, he apparently found himself at an Ella Langley concert.
Ryan went to the country star’s Baltimore, Maryland tour stop (he helped coach the Ravens from 1999 to 2008), and he was absolutely astounded by what he saw out of Langley. The former football coach put out this post on X and said that he’s never seen someone command a crowd in Baltimore like Ella did… and considering he was there for almost a decade as a coach, that’s a huge compliment:
“Look, I’ve been around football my whole life. I’ve coached in Baltimore, won a lot of games, and seen some incredible performances But let me tell you something…Ella Langley had Baltimore in the palm of her hand tonight. As the kids say, I’m officially an Ella Fella. I don’t make the rules.”
Not sure what he means by “I don’t make the rules,” but congrats to Rex Ryan for officially becoming an “Ella Fella.”
At this point, who isn’t? Langley has been on an absolute tear this year, becoming the first country artist in history to hold the Top 2 songs in the United States simultaneously for more than one week with, and the first female country artist to score three of the Top 4 hits on the Hot 100 in a single week with country songs, becoming one of only nine artists in any genre to accomplish this feat.
Langley’s generational success is not just limited to the Billboard charts, and as reported by Luminate this week, her smash hit “Choosin’ Texas” is the most-streamed song in all of music so far in 2026 in the United States with a staggering 570.9 million streams across platforms, beating out the likes of veteran superstars such as Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Bad Bunny and more. In case that wasn’t impressive enough, it currently holds a staggering 230 million-stream lead on the second-most-streamed track, Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need.”
And amidst all of those accolades, she’s also earned the respect and fandom of Rex Ryan. Obviously she didn’t set out on her career to make a fan out of a former New York Jets coach… but it’s pretty wild that we’ve got a big NFL name feeling as though they need to update the world about their Ella fandom.
