Charles Barkley Skipped Taylor Swift’s Wedding Because He Thought It Would Be A “Crap Show” & Wanted To Play Golf

Charles Barkley

Charles Barkley was one of the many high profile individuals invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, but unlike many of the other celebrities, the Sir Charles politely declined the invitation because he had… let’s just say other things going on.

The “Chuckster” always has a lot to say, whether it be with the Inside The NBA program or his podcast that he shares with Ernie Johnson called The Steam Room. Evidently, there’s a lot that goes through Barkley’s head, and we’re all very fortunate that he a) never seems to be too far away from a microphone and b) is always wiling to share his unfiltered thoughts.

The latest example of that was when the NBA analyst joined the Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo show. One of the hosts of the show asked Chuck if he had been invited to the “royal wedding,” and it seemed like it somewhat of a joke question. However, Barkley shared that he was, in fact, invited to Swift and Kelce’s wedding (along with a plethora of country artists), and provided some hilarious reasons why he didn’t attend.

In classic, Charles Barkley fashion, the “Round Mound of Rebound” didn’t sugarcoat anything. He provided many excuses as to why he didn’t make it, including that he doesn’t “go to weddings or funerals,” and that he figured that the massive event at Madison Square Garden in New York City was “gonna be a crap show.”

His words:

“I did (get invited). I don’t go to weddings. That’s one of the things (I don’t do). I don’t go to weddings or funerals. But I did get an invite, and I politely declined because I thought it was gonna be a crap show. I love Travis and Jason, and I’ve only met Taylor one time.”

It really does seem like Taylor and Travis were inviting anyone and everyone to their special day.

Barkley went on to provide even more insight into his decision to decline the wedding invite. One of the main reasons he didn’t go? He simply didn’t want to, didn’t want to dress up, and would have rather hung out and played golf:

“But I did get an invite, but I said, ‘Hey, you know what, that’s just too much.’ I just want to hang out and play golf, and I don’t want to dress up and all that other stuff. But I appreciate the invitation, it was pretty special.”

I can’t emphasis how perfect of a clip that is for a show called “Unfiltered”… the Chuckster should be the main host of that program.

I’ve always known that I’m a big fan of Charles Barkley, but him skipping out on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding – for the reasons that he provided – makes me like him that much more. Charles is at the point in his life where he’s not going to do anything he doesn’t want to do, and as we now know, not even one of the biggest weddings in pop culture history could get him to dress up.

Never change, Charles Barkley. Never change.
