Sounds like she’s more than content in her pink era.
Megan Moroney is currently on the road for her extensive Cloud 9 tour in promotion of her recent album of the same name, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre US Billboard 200 chart, making it her first-ever number one album on the list, in addition to peaking at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
There are some great songs on the tracklist, I love her duets with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, and her current single at country radio “Medicine” is a heater, and just this week, Megan was teasing a new unreleased song:
But it sounds like there’s not much coming in the way of new music anytime soon, so maybe that is just some one-off random single.
In an interview with Katie Neal on her Katie & Company radio show, Megan says she’s really trying to embrace this current season of Cloud 9, all the pink, and living her dream on an arena tour… she isn’t writing at all right now, but she says she has 60+ song ideas “marinating in her phone” for when the tour ends in October:
“Honestly, touring is taking up 99.9% of my brain, and I am making an active effort to not write for the next album until October, when the tour is over. I’m dying to write, because I have so many ideas, but I’m banking them all.
When I tell you, I’ve probably got like 60 ideas like marinating in my phone, and it takes everything in me not to act upon them, but I’m like, no, because during the ‘Am I Okay?’ era, that was, at the time, the most fun I’ve ever had on tour. It was amazing to see my fans, I feel like when I look back and be like when did all of this craziness really start, the ‘Am I Okay’ tour was nuts and like nothing I’d ever seen before. But during the ‘Am I Okay?’ tour I was writing ‘Cloud 9,’ the arena tour was booked during ‘Am I Okay?’ tour, so I knew it was coming.
And so I felt like, even though I was living in ‘Am I Okay?’ and I was excited and I was having a great time, I was still like, ‘Oh my God, but next year is gonna be so great.’ So I’m trying, I obviously have goals that I know where I wanna go after the ‘Cloud 9’ arena tour, but I’m trying to really just be in it and take in every day.”
It’s so easy for artist to get burned out on the road, and you have to live your life in order to be able to come up with great song ideas, so I think it’s a really great strategy, and considering how much work has gone into not only the tour itself, but Megan getting to this point, I love that she’s taking the time to really enjoy it all because like she said, it all goes so fast:
“I never wanna be like, ‘I’m so tired, I just wanna do nothing and be anywhere else.’ Because there’s been times on the road where it becomes really… you just become exhausted. And my goal is to just be like, you know what, I’m exhausted but I’m in a freaking arena. And there’s so many people coming here every night, and all I wanna be focused on is pink.
I don’t wanna move onto the next color. Hence, everything is pink. I just wanna be in the pink. Because even when I was in the blue, I knew I was gonna be in the pink, and then now when I look back, I’m like, blue felt like it happened like this. And ‘Lucky’ was even quicker with the green. I know that great things will happen in the future, they’re gonna come because I’m gonna work hard and I’m gonna make it happen.
But right now, I just need to realize that two years ago, even a year ago, having an arena tour was a dream. And so I want to just be in it, and so I’m kind of letting it consume me. Hence, it’s a Monday and I’m in my merch and I’m in all pink.”
It’s obvious how much fun she’s having performing the songs for her fans every night, and the production value of her shows is truly unmatched, and it’s so important to slow down and just enjoy it because she really is living her dream. The entertainment industry in general is a fast business, and it’s so easy to just let everything pass you by, and I think it’s great that Megan’s just letting herself enjoy it and taking it all in every night.
Megan technically didn’t put out a deluxe edition of Cloud 9, but there were a few exclusive bonus tracks that were included with some of the Target album purchases and things of that nature, so it’s possible that new song was written back with the rest of Cloud 9 and maybe she will be putting out a deluxe version, because technically, that’s still int he pink, as she put it.
Stay tuned…
