The record is officially broken… for now.
It’s hard to imagine an artist having a better year than Morgan Wallen had in 2025. Riding the highs of his fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, the Tennessee native broke all sorts of records. In addition to dethroning Garth Brooks and becoming the highest-selling country artist of all time (3rd all-genre), Wallen also scored the most-listened-to album on Apple Music globally, the #1 most-listened-to album in the U.S. on Spotify and became the second male country artist in history to be named Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year, beating out the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny and more.
Out of all the accomplishments throughout the year, arguably the biggest one was when he broke his own record for most songs charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week with 37 separate entries. This, of course, broke his previous record of 36 songs back in 2023 following the release of his third studio album, One Thing At A Time, which saw every single song on the LP make an appearance on the chart.
Upon the release of the record, 36 out of the 37 songs on I’m The Problem were present on the Hot 100, with “Lies Lies Lies” being absent; however, his inclusion on Post Malone’s Grammy-nominated single, “I Had Some Help,” enabled Wallen to secure his record-breaking 37th song on the chart.
Given the fact that Wallen replaced his own record, it felt like it would be quite a while until we saw it be beaten — unless Wallen himself or someone like Taylor Swift decided to up the ante and drop a 40+ song record with their next album.
As it turns out, none other than the highest-selling artist in American history, Drake, just bested Wallen with the release of his new record, ICEMAN, and its two accompanying projects, MAID OF HONOUR and HABIBTI.
During the initial rollout of ICEMAN, which Wallen himself was speculated to appear on before not being present in any way, shape or form, it was initially speculated to be a standard, single-album release. However, in the hours leading up to its release on May 15th, Drake would eventually end up pulling the trigger on the two additional albums.
Given that ICEMAN, MAID OF HONOUR and HABIBTI total up to 43 songs, the immediate conversation among chart insiders was that Wallen’s record would be on the line following a strong opening week, which saw ICEMAN, in particular, sell well over 500,000 total units.
As it turns out, all three projects sold and streamed incredibly well and allowed the “Passionfruit” singer to chart a staggering 42/43 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. In turn, Drake now holds the record for most songs charted in a single week, breaking Wallen’s previous record by a marginal five total songs.
In case that wasn’t enough, he owns a shocking nine out of the Top 10 songs on the Hot 100, with Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” being the only non-Drake song to occupy the Top 10 this week at #5. Amazingly, Langley is the only reason why Drake didn’t make more history today by owning the entirety of the Top 10.
Ultimately, it’s one of those records that were bound to be broken eventually in the streaming age, especially given the fact that albums and projects as a whole just keep getting longer every year. Given the fact that Wallen has continually made each and every project longer, with Dangerous, One Thing At A Time and I’m The Problem being 34, 36 and 37 songs respectively, there’s a non-zero chance Wallen pulls the trigger on a 40+ song album with record #5 and reclaims the record. This, of course, is all speculation, however.
