Wisconsin Brewery Owner Doubles Down On Offer Of Free Beer When Trump Dies: “Anticipates With Glee”

So he’s basically confirming that it’s a PR stunt.

A Wisconsin brewery owner is doubling down on his offer of free beer on the day President Donald Trump dies, after receiving backlash for a post celebrating the assassination attempt on the president this past weekend at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The annual dinner was taking place at the Washington Hilton, which also happens to be the same hotel where President Ronald Reagan was the target of an assassination attempt back in 1981. And many expressed concerns about the security at the hotel, which apparently was only screening guests with metal detectors outside of the ballroom and not when entering the hotel.

The suspect in the attack has been identified as 31-year old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, a mechanical engineer and video game developer who also worked part time as a teacher. Allen was reportedly a guest at the hotel, and had reportedly assembled the gun inside the hotel before rushing the security checkpoint.

Allen exchanged gunfire with Secret Service, hitting one agent in his bulletproof vest before being taken down and arrested.

President Trump posted security camera footage of the incident, which showed Allen running past the metal detectors:

Authorities executed search warrants at his California home last night, and reportedly discovered a manifesto stating that he planned on targeting Trump administration officials. Allen had also posted anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on social media, and at least one of his family members had reportedly alerted authorities about him prior to the shooting.

Of course this is just the latest in what is unfortunately a long line of attempts on President Trump’s life, a disturbing trend that even Democrat officials are strongly condemning:

But in the wake of the assassination attempt, a brewery in Wisconsin has come under heavy criticism for a disgustingly vile post.

Minocqua Brewing Company, which has a standing offer of free beer to customers on the day that Trump passes away, celebrated the attempt on the president’s life:

“Well, we almost got #freebeerday. Either a brother or sister in the Resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle.

We’ll never know.

Regardless, we stand at the ready to pour free beer the day it happens.”

The brewery is owned by Kirk Bangstad, a failed Democrat candidate for state office who was arrested last year and ultimately ended up pleading guilty to disorderly conduct. He’s also been charged with criminal defamation in the past, and in 2024 lost a defamation lawsuit brought by the publisher of a Minocqua lawsuit and ended up settling for $580,000. He also runs a Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC to advocate for liberal political causes.

A real winner, clearly.

Well in the wake of the attention received from his post, and from the offer of free beer when Trump passes away, Fox News reached out to Bangstad for comment – and he basically confirmed that it’s all a publicity stunt and that every time the media writes a story about him their beer sales go “through the roof.”

Here’s his full response:

“It’s wonderful that Fox News, the entity that’s most responsible for political violence in this country, is offering to help promote our upcoming “free beer day,” in which we promise to hand out “free beer, all day, when he dies.”

Every time you write a story about us, our beer sales go through the roof. Is it possible that the vast amount of media literate Americans, who also love great craft beer, just LOVE it when #faux news completely misreads the room and clutches its pearls as we hype the “celebration of life” that the rest of the globe anticipates with glee?

Eric, because we’re generous people, you and your colleagues at Fox are invited to our party. Just remember, no red hats or kneepads allowed. We drink standing up at our taproom, because we refuse to kneel to cult figures and mafia bosses.”

Seems like a lovely guy.

You’ve gotta wonder whether people like this ever look themselves in the mirror and realize that they might actually be in the wrong? I mean, cheering on an assassination attempt because you disagree with the guy’s politics? At some point you’d think he would realize that he’s the psycho in this situation, but I guess some people are too blinded by politics and hatred and just aren’t capable of that kind of self-reflection.

Terrifying that there are people like that out there walking among us.
