Dolly Parton Stampede

Tragic.

One man is dead after a shot rang out at Dolly Parton’s Stampede restaurant in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on Saturday night. According to WCYB, officers at the Pigeon Forge Police Department responded to a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, which led investigators to find two men inside a vehicle at the restaurant’s parking lot.

As WCYB reported, officers said that one of the men in the vehicle accidentally discharged his handgun, fatally shooting the other man who was pronounced dead after being rushed to LeConte Medical Center.

According to Wate 6 in Knoxville, the victim was a 22-year-old named Jacob Inselmann from Steeleville, Illinois. The man whose gun discharged was identified as Evan Cogdill, a 24 year old from Marissa, Illinois, who is currently being charged with criminally negligent homicide.

The shooting took place at the country legend’s restaurant, Stampede, which is located at 3849 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, just miles from her famous Dollywood theme park. The restaurant, which is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, is chock-full of attractions ranging from livestock shows, barrel racing, musical performances, horse walks and much more, all while you are eating your dinner… think Medieval Times but country-western.

More details surrounding the shooting, which appears to be accidental in nature and all the more tragic, have yet to be released. With that being said, however, Pigeon Forge Police said the investigation is ongoing with more information coming soon.
