Ella Langley Becomes The First Female Country Artist Ever To Hold Billboard’s Top Two Streaming Songs

Ella Langley

Another day, another record for Ms. Langley.

It’s no stretch to say that Ella Langley is not only the hottest country artist on the planet right now but also one of the hottest artists in all of music. Riding the momentum gained throughout 2024 and 2025, due to her smash hit with Riley Green, “you look like you love me,” Langley shattered any previously set career expectations upon the release of her all-genre #1 hit, “Choosin’ Texas.”

Thanks to the success of “Choosin’ Texas,” the buzz surrounding her sophomore album, Dandelion, which received a lot of critical and commercial love upon its release last Friday, and continued popularity nationwide highlighted by her American Eagle partnership, Langley is not only becoming a torchbearer for women in country music but also a force to be reckoned with in the music industry as a whole.

Though many country fans knew that Langley was bound to break out in a big way, I don’t think anyone could have truly predicted just how successful the past six months have been for her. As we know by now, “Choosin’ Texas” has been nothing short of a megahit, but when you take a deep dive into how many records it’s broken lately, it’s almost hard to believe.

When the track first went #1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 on February 9th, she became just the seventh female artist IN HISTORY to go #1 on the Hot 100 with a country song and also became the first woman ever to triple up and score #1s on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay and Hot 100 chart simultaneously.

Teaming up with Megan Moroney on March 2nd, she’d make more history. With “Choosin’ Texas” spending its second week at #1 on the Hot 100 and Moroney’s junior album, Cloud 9, debuting at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, the pair became the only female country duo in history to top both charts simultaneously.

In the weeks following, “Choosin’ Texas” has continued to its record-smashing success. On March 23rd, it spent its fourth week at #1 on the chart, becoming the longest-running #1 hit on Hot 100 by a female country singer in history, subsequently passing Taylor Swift’s record of three weeks with “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

This week, “Choosin’ Texas” remained #1 on the Hot 1o0, extending her record to six weeks and counting. Simultaneously, she set another record by a female country artist on Billboard’s other all-genre chart, Streaming Songs.

Unsurprisingly, “Choosin’ Texas” spent its seventh week at #1 on the Streaming Songs chart, receiving a monster 26.6 million official streams in the United States in the week ending April 9. Thanks to the buzz surrounding the release of Dandelion last Friday, however, her other surging single, “Be Her,” leaped from #7 to #2 on the chart, gaining an impressive 14.8 million streams throughout the week.

With this rare double-up, Langley is now the first female artist in the history of Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart to occupy the top two spots with two country songs. Even more notably, she is just the eighth woman in any genre to accomplish this feat, joining the likes of Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter.

Expanding out the accomplishment further, she is just the second country artist ever to accomplish the rare Streaming Songs double-up. Of course, Morgan Wallen was the first to snag this upon the release of I’m The Problem last year when both “What I Want” and “Just In Case” went #1 and #2 respectively.

In case you thought that “Choosin’ Texas” was showing any signs of slowing down, it’s expected to remain at #1 for a seventh week on the Hot 100 next week. While Morgan Wallen has all but blown the expectations through the roof in terms of all-genre hit songs over the past few years, Langley has captured lightning in a bottle unlike anything we’ve ever seen recently.
