I guess that’s one way to look at it…

Newly released body cam footage is giving us new insight into the night now-former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested shortly after being fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer.

Moore was fired on December 10, 2025 after it was discovered that he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a member of his staff, who has since been identified as his executive assistant Paige Shiver. According to a statement released by the Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel at the time:

“Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”

Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli, for a decade, and the couple have three children together.

Things only got crazier after he was fired though, when Moore was arrested and charged with felony home invasion in the third degree, misdemeanor stalking and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

According to prosecutors and publicly released 911 calls, Moore’s wife called the police after he was fired and reported that he was threatening to kill himself. He then allegedly went to the apartment of his mistress and “grabbed several butter knives and a pair of kitchen scissors, and began to threaten his own life.”

Moore was back in court earlier this month, where he entered a no contest plea to one charge of trespassing and one charge of malicious use of a telecommunications device. He faces up to six months in jail when he’s sentenced on April 14, but the plea deal resulted in the felony charges against Moore being dropped.

With the criminal case against Moore wrapped up, body cam footage of his arrest has now been released by TMZ, and shows the emotional coach blaming his mistress for “ruining his life” after having him fired and arrested:

“She’s trying to ruin my life. I didn’t do anything. Now she’s going to put an assault on my record? I don’t even have a record. …

She wants to get me fired and get me charged for assault. That’s crazy. … She knew exactly what she was doing.”

When Moore questioned why he was being charged with assault, the officer explains to him that it’s because Shiver accused him of pointing the butter knife at her. But Moore denies ever threatening the woman and maintains that he was only threatening himself:

“I didn’t do anything to her. She got me fired and put in jail all in one day. … She’s such a liar. I did not do anything to her. I did it all to myself. So I have to spend the night in jail because she lied? I didn’t do anything to her. She straight up lied. She’s already ruined my life enough, now she’s gonna put me in jail?”

Moore also gives his opinion on Shiver’s motive for the allegations against him:

“I wanted to get rid of her and she said I couldn’t because she’d sue me. I haven’t pointed anything at her. That’s ridiculous. It’s a straight lie. … I would never hurt her. Never. I wouldn’t even threaten her. It’s not worth it. … I can’t get rid of her.”

During the arrest, Moore also expressed concern that his arrest would become public (which was a…valid concern), and could be seen removing his University of Michigan gear to make himself less noticeable.

For her part, Shiver has since left Michigan and released through her attorneys blasting Moore for the imbalance of power between a “powerful head coach and a subordinate employee created an environment where (she) felt pressured, intimidated and unable to escape conduct that should never occur in any workplace — let alone at a public university.”

And her attorney also had harsh words for the university, leaving open the possibility of a lawsuit against Moore and the school:

“The University of Michigan is one of the prominent institutions in the world, but there’s a culture in the athletic department that has hurt Ms. Shiver and others. He took advantage of a younger, female employee. …

Leadership knew and failed to act to protect her. This isn’t something that happened overnight, it happened a long period of time.”

Long story short, while the criminal case is done, I have a feeling this saga is far from over.
