What a time to be a Ragweed fan.
As one of the cornerstones of the Red Dirt movement, Cross Canadian Ragweed has remained one of the most important country bands over the past three decades. Forming in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the mid-1990s, the group’s impact truly cannot be understated, influencing some of the brightest stars in the Texas and Oklahoma scene, such as Turnpike Troubadours, Koe Wetzel, Wyatt Flores, Parker McCollum, Shane Smith & the Saints and many more.
Simply put, Ragweed caught fire early upon the release of their 1998 debut album, Carney. Throughout their career, the Oklahoman band released seven studio albums and three live albums, but sadly disbanded in 2010. Red Dirt fans were beyond heartbroken when the group broke up, and from a conversation with Cody Canada, it seemed there was no way in hell they would get back together, comparing their breakup to a divorce.
Against all odds, 2025 proved to be nothing short of a miracle for the band. After making their long-awaited return to the stage in January at Mile 0 Fest in Key West, Florida, Ragweed dropped the bombshell and announced their grand reunion: “The Boys From Oklahoma” Concert series, a four-night experience in April, along with fellow Red Dirt legends, Turnpike Troubadours. This would later expand into a “Texas Encore” edition of the reunion, which included Shane Smith & The Saints, Wade Bowen and more in August.
Given the success last year, with all the aforementioned shows selling out, Ragweed has been hitting the road hard again this year. Not only did they headline Mile 0 Fest in Key West, Florida, they also teamed up with Turnpike once again for two “Boys From Oklahoma” concerts in Athens, Georgia, last month.
Fresh off another show to a sold-out crowd at the Houston Rodeo on Monday night, last night, Ragweed teased something fans have been waiting on for two decades at this point: another new live album.
Taking to Instagram last night, the Red Dirt legends would post a cropped album cover for a brand new live record, seemingly titled, Live & Loud.
Given the fact that Ragweed broke up in 2010, Live & Loud will be the first album released since 2009 and even more excitingly for fans who prefer the live versions of tracks like “Boys From Oklahoma,” it will be their first live record since 2006.
Fans could not contain themselves over the prospect of a new release, taking to the comments to express their excitement.
“These are the announcements I’ve prayed for”
“OMG”
“Lesssssssgooooooooo”
“EXCUSE ME!!!!!”
“*eagerly waiting*”
As of now, they have not announced a release date or which shows the album will pull live performances from. With that being said, however, it’s safe to say an official announcement is coming soon.
Before you go, fire up “Boys From Oklahoma” live at Billy Bob’s Texas back in 2002.
