Chris Young Becomes The Latest Artist To Announce He’s Opening A Bar In Nashville

Just what Nashville was missing.

If you’ve been to Music City lately, you’ve probably wondered why there aren’t more artist bars to choose from. I mean, choices are pretty limited these days: You can pay $12 for a beer at a bar named after Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Post Malone, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Kid Rock, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Garth Brooks, Jelly Roll, Hank Williams Jr., Bon Jovi, Riley Green, or Old Dominion, or you could go to a local bar like Robert’s Western World and get a PBR for $2.50.

If only there was another option.

Well worry no more, because you’re in luck: Chris Young has announced that he’s the next artist who will be opening a bar in Nashville soon.

The Famous Friends Bar will be located at 1516A Demonbreun Street, in the strip of midtown Nashville bars that also includes Tin Roof and Live Oak. It’s one of the few areas of Nashville yet that have so far been unadulterated by an influx of artist bars, but alas, it appears that’s about to change.

The location has had a rocky history lately: The spot was previously a cocktail bar called The Asbury, which was only open for a little over a year. And before that it was home to the 3000 Bar, which was ultimately shut down by the city of Nashville after being declared a public nuisance following repeated incidents of fights, shootings and assaults.

As for Famous Friends, Young says his goal is to create a sports bar where friends can hang out:

“I’m very excited for Famous Friends to be open in Nashville! I have been working on this as a passion project for a while now. A sports bar that will be Nashville famous for a reason. Something completely different where you can bring all your friends for a great time!”

Honestly, as much as I make fun of artist bars these days, at least this is something that has a chance to succeed in a location that’s struggled to keep a tenant over the past few years.

And if you’ve been to the bars in midtown Nashville, chances are you may have already run into Chris Young hanging out there from time to time. I saw him one of the first times I went to Tin Roof after I moved to Nashville a decade ago, and I’ve run into him from time to time since then whenever I go out to that area (which is increasingly infrequent these days).

The bar is obviously named after Chris’s song “Famous Friends,” his 2020 single with Kane Brown (who also recently announced he’s opening a bar in Nashville). There’s no opening date for the bar yet, but they’ve already created social media accounts and a website so you’ve gotta think it’s coming pretty soon.

So if you’re one of those people who have been to Nashville and have been disappointed that we didn’t have a Chris Young bar yet…well, it looks like your luck just changed.
