Kat Hasty doesn’t miss.
I’m not sure if you can boil it down to spring fever or something else entirely, but it’s been a week full of surprise drops across the genre. In case you missed it, on Saturday night during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of February 28th, 2016, in Fort Worth, Koe Wetzel surprised fans with his These Are Going Nowhere: A Mixtape By Koe Wetzel EP, which dropped exclusively on YouTube. Even more shockingly, Sturgill Simpson, in typical fashion, shocked everyone by releasing the entirety of his upcoming Johnny Blue Skies record, Mutiny After Midnight, to YouTube nearly two weeks before the album was set to release on CD, vinyl and cassette only on March 13th.
Not to be outdone, Cody Johnson surprised fans on Monday morning with the surprise drop of his first original release since the fall of 2024, with a twangy ode to his home state, “Blame Texas.”
Just when you thought that the surprise drops were done this week, the severely underrated Kat Hasty became the fourth artist this week to release a brand new track out of the blue, giving fans an introspective new song titled “All You Gotta Do Is Bleed.”
In case you’re somehow unfamiliar with Hasty, there’s no denying she’s one of the standout artists of today’s new crop of talented women in the genre. Simply put, there’s so much to love with her as an artist. Beyond her unique vocals, which truly don’t have a one-to-one comparison, her biting wit and ability to pen a wide variety of different tracks make her a wholly complete artist.
Coming off the heels of her brilliant debut album, The Time of Your Life, which scored a spot on Whiskey Riff‘s Top 40 Albums of 2025 list, “All You Gotta Do Is Bleed” marks the Texas native’s first release since the record back in May. More importantly, it’s yet another stunner from Hasty.
Discussing the track in the Instagram post announcing “All You Gotta Do Is Bleed’s” surprise release, Hasty would note on the fact that everyone that she loves in her life is inherently flawed. In turn, she would reflect on the fact that they (and by extension, many listeners) have looked in the mirror and pondered if someone could truly love them for who they are.
“Everyone I’ve ever truly loved is extremely, extremely flawed. I have seen the strength of a single mother. I have seen the resilience of a recovering addict. I have watched the broken child become a business owner. They have all looked in the mirror and asked how someone could ever fully love them, while I’ve only ever looked at them with stars in my eyes.”

Ultimately, “All You Gotta Do Is Bleed” is an incredibly raw, unique take on the overlooked aspects of love and relationships in general. Oftentimes, you’ll see songs centering around the extreme highs of love or the extreme lows of heartbreak. With that being said, however, Hasty is finding beauty in the mundane here. It should go without saying that the Texas native has established herself as a premier songwriter flying out of the Texas scene, and she showcases that once again on this authentic track.
