Going just about everywhere in the US… not Canada though.
It’s safe to say it’s been quite the past month for Charley Crockett. After scoring his second-career Grammy nomination for the brand-new Best Traditional Country Album category, he’d arrive in style and represent the genre alongside the likes of Zach Top, who would go on to win the award with Ain’t In It For My Health, Lainey Wilson, Reba, Jelly Roll and more.
On Super Bowl weekend, the “Jamestown Ferry” singer, who has never been one to shy away from speaking about what’s on his mind, would find himself in hot water with many after taking aim at the likes of President Trump, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and even Jelly Roll. In case you missed it, this came directly ahead of Bad Bunny’s controversial Super Bowl halftime appearance and ultimately saw Crockett call Trump a “cosplay president” while also calling for both Musk and Theil to be deported in a lengthy Instagram rant.
On February 18th, he’d turn around and announce the April 3rd release of his brand new album, Age of the Ram, which will serve as the final part of his “Sagebrush Trilogy” that began last year with both Lonesome Drifter in March and Dollar A Day in August.
In a Substack post, he’d describe Age of the Ram as an album that tells the story of the final evolution of the outlaw that was followed in the previous entries of the “Sagebrush Trilogy,” describing him as “the kid that don’t set out to be a legend, but winds up one anyway.”
“The ‘Sagebrush Trilogy’ has always been about a man trying to find his name in this world. ‘Lonesome Drifter’ was the wanderer. Boots full of highway dust, chasing a song and a dollar. ‘Dollar A Day’ was the rustler. A man learning what hunger will make you do. Now the ‘Age of the Ram’ tells the story of the outlaw. The kind that don’t set out to be a legend, but winds up one anyway.”
Continuing the theme of highs and lows throughout the month of February, just after announcing the brand new album, Crockett was forced to cancel the entirety of his 9-show Canadian leg of his winter tour. This ultimately was due to his inability to cross the Canadian border due to his 2014 arrest for felony possession and trafficking more than 5 pounds of marijuana in Virginia.
Now that the dust has settled on that highly controversial cancellation last Monday, the “Lonesome Drifter” singer is looking to make things right here in the U.S. at least. Coming in hot, Crockett just announced a massive, 49-show set of dates on the brand new Age of the Ram Tour.
With most tours, the question for most fans is usually “Where are they going?” In this case, the question is “Where is Crockett not going?” Kicking off on April 24th in New Orleans, the Texas native will be hitting nearly every single state in the continental U.S. before wrapping up on October 2nd in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Some of the highlights of the tour include back-to-back nights at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth on August 28th and 29th, a potential return to Canada at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta and multiple stops in Nashville at Music City Rodeo, Philadelphia at The Met and Louisville at Bourbon and Beyond Festival.
As for openers, Crockett is employing a revolving door of some of the hottest names in the Americana scene. While Nat Myers and Durand Jones & The Indicators will serve as primary openers during a majority of the tour, Kashus Culpepper, Sierra Hull, Margo Price, Lee Fields, Honky Tonkin’ Queens, Wild Horses, Pony Bradshaw and Twin Temple will also make appearances throughout the lengthy set of dates.
Presale for Age of the Ram begins tomorrow, March 4th, at 10 a.m. local with general on sale beginning on Friday, March 6th at 10 a.m. local.
