Only right to have the video starring the woman who inspired the track. Parker McCollum is bringing his lyrics to life by officially sharing the music video for his beloved track “Killin’ Me.” Released “Killin’ Me” as a single ahead of his fifth studio self-titled record. The song instantly captured fans and has remained a fan favorite from the PARKER MCCOLLUM LP.
“Killin’ Me” has a rough-around-the-edges composition that almost simulates the feeling of being at a live show. McCollum’s silky-smooth drawl washes over listeners as he sings of a captivating woman. McCollum appears to have spotted a woman while he’s out and about, and begins fantasizing about how she’s everything he’s been looking for, moments before an interaction.
Everything this woman does captivates him, and he is weak toward all of her actions.
“You turn every head and stop a room on a dime
And when you look at me, I know you know I’m dying inside
You’re everything I want
You’re the last thing in this world that I need
Yeah, every move you make is killing me…”
Even though it’s a love song, it has a gritty feel that gives off a cowboy-like love vibe—many women’s fantasy.
Given that the lyrics penned by McCollum, Randy Rogers, and Monty Criswell were inspired by his bride and the mother of their children, Hallie Ray Light, to bring these sultry lyrics to life, it was only right to have her as the focal point in the music video. McCollum shared ahead of the video’s release that this is Hallie Ray’s music video debut, which has been a long time coming, given that the two have been partners for quite some time.
“How bout a round of applause for the absolutely stunning Hallie Ray Light McCollum making her music video debut. Check it out Wednesday.”
Directed by Dustin Haney and shot in Fort Worth at the famed Hotel Drover and legendary Billy Bob’s Texas, McCollum has his eyes locked on a bombshell blonde occupying the dance floor.
In between performance shots, McCollum is sitting on a barstool catching up with an old friend, and while he might be present there, his mind is elsewhere, thinking about this beauty in a black dress that he can’t take his eyes off of. The visuals for the “Killin’ Me” music video really bring to life the infatuation that McCollum has for his wife and how much he’s in awe of her every day, both physically and for who she is on the inside.
It’s hard to make a music video that truly enhances the lyrics, but Parker McCollum and Dustin Haney hit the nail on the head with this one. Check it out:
