Everyone loves good company. There are plenty of videos out there that showcase nature being brutal. Animals running for their lives, or facing dangerous circumstances or situations are the clips that usually get the most clicks. And they are the ones that are typically the most plentiful. However, every once in a while, a video from out in the wild that tells a heartwarming story gets time in the spotlight, and this footage below is one of those examples.
The Dakota Film Company, a media organization in South Dakota that focuses on cinematic video production, took the internet by storm late last year when they posted a clip that showed a moose getting accepted into a herd of cattle. For one, moose typically aren’t seen in the state very much. So just a video of a moose by itself in the Mount Rushmore State would be unique.
But this post took the rarity a step further, and showed a sizable bull moose getting familiar with a herd of cows… and eventually being accepted by them. Though it’s not the first time we’ve ever seen an animal work it’s way into a group that’s not comprised of its own species, it still acts as very special documentation.
At first, the cows appeared hesitant, and why wouldn’t they be? The moose is much larger than any of them, and boasts some large antlers on the top of its head. As time passed, and the moose showed it wasn’t a threat (a lot of credit to this moose’s demeanor), the cow herd became okay with the idea of the moose joining their group. So they all started traveling together.

The best part of the unlikely moose-and-cow-pact is that social media can’t stop praising the content. In a world where horrible things regularly flood social media feeds, this instead provided a unique story of acceptance out in the wild. Users online watched the video hundreds of thousands of times, and left these kind of comments below the post:
“This is the content I’m here for.”
“The moose must be in witness protection.”
“This is unironically the exact type of content I like to watch. I don’t care what the Housewives are doing. I want to see this giant moose get lovingly accepted into a herd of cows.”
“The cow camouflage is complete.”
“This must be how Shaquille O’Neil feels.”
“At least he made some friends.”
“This content is very important to me.”
“The one animal whose name the cows can pronounce.”
That last one is a bit of a thinker… but it’s a great Dad Joke and I had to include it.
And if you were wanting an update, the only one that appears to be available from Dakota Film Company came in late November ( a couple of months after their original post). Sadly, it looks like the moose split up from the cow herd and was once again off on his own. Happily, it appeared to be doing okay and thriving as one of the only moose in South Dakota
