It looks like we might finally be getting the studio cut of this one.
Luke Combs teased a song called “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” the other day on Instagram, which is actually a song he wrote about five years ago and first shared in October of 2020. He wrote it with Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana, and it finds Combs missing his wife while on the road far away from home, he says:
“Trying to take a nap before my Billboard Music Awards performance tonight and I couldn’t sleep. It reminded me of this song I wrote a few months ago right before everything shutdown.
Had this idea one night when I was missing Nicole Hocking, like I am right now. Hope y’all dig this preview of it. Wrote it with Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana.”
Here’s the original video, which is Luke playing the song with a simple acoustic guitar:
Of course, the studio cut is much more polished, but the lyrics paint a picture of real loneliness as he finds himself unable to sleep being so far away from his wife in a hotel somewhere:
“I can hear the lonely howlin’ out my window,
I can feel the whiskey not do anything,
It’s two in the morning, TV’s on and,
I’ve never felt so far from home,
I can hear the lonely howlin’ out my window,
The morning light can’t come too soon,
Lyin’ here not next to you,
Wide awake I dream of you,
Sleepless in a hotel room”
In the Instagram teaser, the title shows that it’s just one file of 22, more specifically it was labeled as “File 13 of 22,” leading fans to speculate if the new album Luke has been teasing might consist of a 22-song tracklist, or if it’s just in reference to 22 songs he’s worked on in the studio.

Just a couple weeks ago, Luke released a tear jerker called “Giving Her Away,” which will be included on the forthcoming (unofficially announced) album. He previously said that he had cut “over 30 songs” for the record, and I’m sure he will finally announced it early in 2026.
Considering the tour is called My Kinda Saturday Night, and he already released that song too, it seems like that could possibly be the name of his next record, but we’ll just have to wait and see once he makes the full announcement.
