NFL Fans Praise Patriots & Jets Players For Coming Together For Mid-Field Prayer After The Game

Jets and Patriots Prayer

Great to see that some of the NFL’s biggest stars from different teams can still come together and pray.

It’s a movement that we’ve seen more and more of in recent years. Stars of the NFL and other professional sports leagues are becoming more open about their faith, and not shying away from sharing their relationship with God. It’s refreshing to see, especially since there was a time where it seemed as though being outspoken about Christianity was frowned upon.

Mainly by the “don’t mix religion with sports” crowd.

Athletes like Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Baker Mayfield are both shining examples of NFL players having no problem speaking on their faith. It was actually Mayfield who more recently shared that, if it wasn’t for his relationship with Christ, he may not have had the career turnaround that he’s experienced in Tampa Bay.

And last night, following a more-exciting-than-anticipated Thursday night game between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, stars from both teams – Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, and Justin Fields to name a few – gathered up at midfield for a joint prayer before the teams headed their separate ways.

The Patriots on CLNS social media account captured the video of the prayer, and it’s gone on to amass close to 20,000 likes in just over 12 hours:

Obviously, that kind of scene plays out a lot after a game, every stadium, every week… but the Patriots on CLNS was just there this time to capture this one in particular.

NFL fans online were quick to praise the players from the Jets and the Patriots coming together for a time of prayer. There were hundreds of responses lifting the NFL players up for taking a knee and giving praise to their Lord and Savior:

And that wasn’t the only moment post-game where an NFL player took some time to thank Jesus.

Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson, who scored an impressive three touchdowns in what could be his breakout game, had this to say when he was asked how it felt to have success during a primetime game:

“It feels great. I’ve just been staying patient and trusting the Lord’s plan. I just continue to do my part, and the rest I just leave up to Him. I’m thankful that I was able to come out here and He allowed me to have this success. I’m so weak without him, and I really mean this from my heart, I can’t do it without Jesus.”

Faith taking center stage right after the game was over… pretty cool to see, if you ask me.
