The 2026 Grammy nominations are officially IN.
Announced today by the Recording Academy, have the full list of Grammy nominees for the 68th annual show which will take place on Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and broadcast on CBS and Paramount+. Performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
Of course, this year is the first year we have a brand new category for the country genre, which is called Best Traditional Country Album. The previously titled Best Country Album category has been changed to Best Contemporary Country Album, so there will be two opportunities for some of your favorite country artists to win one of music’s most prestigious awards.
The new Best Traditional Country Album category is of course stacked, and we have Charley Crockett’s Dollar A Day, Margo Price’s Hard Headed Woman, Zach Top’s Ain’t In It For My Health, Lukas Nelson’s American Romance and his father, Willie Nelson’s, Oh What A Beautiful World all up for the award. It’s pretty cool to see both Willie and Lukas nominated in this category together, and I have to be honest, American Romance is easily one of my favorite albums released this year so I’m really hoping he can manage to take that one home.
Notably, Tyler Childers is nominated in the Best Contemporary Country Album category with Snipe Hunter, which is a bit surprising considering I think many of us would have assumed he’d be in the “traditional” category. Also in the Best Contemporary Country Album category is Kelsea Ballerini with Patterns, Eric Church with Evangeline Vs. The Machine, Jelly Roll with Beautifully Broken and Miranda Lambert with Postcards From Texas.
We already knew that country’s biggest name in Morgan Wallen would be left out of the Grammy nominations this year, as it was confirmed back in August that Morgan would not be submitting anything for consideration at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
In terms of other notable categories, Tyler Childers’ fan-favorite song “Nose on the Grindstone” is up for Best Country Solo Performance, and it would be really cool to see him take that one home after he decided to put a studio version of the longtime fan-favorite on the aforementioned Snipe Hunter.
You’ll also see Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Zach Top, Lainey Wilson, George Strait and Jelly Roll on the 2025 Grammy nominations list, as well as a few head scratchers like Shaboozey picking up 2 song nominations and Tunrpike Troubadours being shockingly absent. Plus, country music has arguably never been bigger and was snubbed out of the all-genre “big four” categories, which includes Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist. There are no country artists nominated in any of those categories this year.
All things considered, they did a decent enough job… which makes sense, because they’re typically much more fair than country’s own CMA and ACM awards shows when it comes nominations and artists outside of the mainstream view. And of course we all have our own opinions about who should’ve been nominated where, but it’s definitely a solid group overall and I’m definitely intrigued to see who comes up as the winners for the Best Traditional Country Album and Best Contemporary Country Album categories.
