Jason & Brittany Aldean Will Present Erika Kirk With Inaugural “Charlie Kirk Legacy Award” At 7th Annual Patriot Awards

The Aldeans will play a big part of the 7th Annual Patriot Awards on November 6.

Jason and Brittany Aldean were very friendly with Charlie Kirk prior to him passing away. It was on September 10 that the conservative political activist was shot and killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. It’s still incredibly sad to think that Charlie Kirk is no longer with us only because he believed in something, and was very willing to openly speak to and debate with others.

Since the assassination, Kirk’s wife – Erika – has taken over Turning Point USA as it’s CEO, stepping into the role that her husband used to hold. And because she has powered through being widowed and continued to keep the spirit of her late husband alive, she’s been honored at the 7th Annual Patriot Awards with the “Charlie Kirk Legacy Award.”

The awards show will take place later this week, and Jason and Brittany Aldean will be in attendance. While the couple is there, they’ll also be presenting the award to Erika Kirk. She’ll be the first ever recipient of the award that was created to honor the legacy and life of Charlie Kirk, and is designed to be given to someone that dedicates themselves to Kirk’s mission: faith, family, and freedom of speech.

Jason Aldean is also set to perform two songs live at the event: “Try That in a Small Town” and “How Far Does a Goodbye Go.” He has previously dedicated performances of “Try That in a Small Town” to Kirk, and did so at a Michigan concert that was held two days after Kirk’s assassination.

The Aldeans have been very open about the heartbreak they feel for the Kirk family, so it’s nice to see that they’ll be able to play a role in the first Patriots Awards since the passing of Charlie Kirk. Shortly after the 31-year-old’s death, Jason Aldean shared this message about the impact Kirk had on his life:

“It’s been a hard day not only in our family, but all over the country. Charlie Kirk was one of the kindest, smartest and bravest people I’ve ever met. I’m honored to have met and spoke with him on a few occasions. He was a man of peace and wanted nothing but the best for our country and its youth. We might have lost Charlie today but what he has done will live on forever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, kids and the entire Kirk family.”

Brittany Aldean also shared words in the aftermath of the tragedy, calling Charlie Kirk a friend and admiring him for his faith and courage:

“This is a heartbreak so many of us will never get over. Charlie was a father, husband, son, friend and so much more. One of the most intelligent people we’ve ever met, fighting for everything right in this world. He put everything on the line to be a voice for those who weren’t able. I admired him. His courage, his intelligence, his faith…. there will truly never be another like him.

Charlie you will forever be missed. Trying to find peace in the fact that he’s in heaven shining down on us all, because man he loved Jesus and there’s no doubt that’s what he’s doing. Accepted into the arms of Jesus as a good and faithful servant.”

The Patriot Awards will air on FOX Nation Thursday, November 6 at 8 PM EST. The event is being held at the The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York. FOX News will also air an encore presentation of the awards show later on in the night.
