There’s a ton of pressure on Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. Of course that probably sounds crazy considering he’s coming off a national championship with the Buckeyes, but Day is only 1-4 against Michigan during his 6 years as head coach (the 2020 game was canceled due to COVID), and after last year’s embarrassing 13-10 loss to a depleted Wolverines team, the pressure is on Day to prove he can beat the team up north, despite winning the 2024 national championship.
The road to defending their title – and defeating their rival – kicked off today for Ohio State, who opened the season at home with the biggest game of the week, featuring the #3-ranked Buckeyes against the #1 Texas Longhorns.
The talk of the first half has been the struggles of Longhorns quarterback and Heisman trophy favorite Arch Manning. The Texas offense has had a hard time moving the ball through the air, and went into halftime down 7-0 to the Buckeyes.
But over on social media, something else caught everybody’s eye, and it had nothing to do with the play on the field.
As Ryan Day took the field, one social media user shared a photo highlighting a…well, protrusion on his chest, which led many to question: Does Ryan Day have his nipple pierced?
Just asking the question that’s on everybody’s mind…
Many speculated that Day had made a bet with his team if Ohio State won the national championship. Or hey, maybe he’s just a nipple piercing guy. No shame in that I guess…but the picture spread like wildfire on social media with jokes about Day and his chest piercing:
The problem though? The photo appears to be fake.
The whole “nipple piercing” saga is just another reason I love college football. We have two top 5 teams going at it, and people are talking about a coach’s possible nipple piercing.
I love this sport.
Ohio State Bans Dave Portnoy From Their Stadium
Why are they such babies? (To be clear, I wanted to use another word there, but I have to censor myself).
Listen, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m an Ohio State hater, but I would also argue it’s for good reason. Their fanbase is insufferable (the whole “THE” Ohio State thing just screams inflated sense of self-worth), and their fans prove time and time again that they’re as soft as toilet paper. Remember just last year when a lawmaker tried to make flag planting a FELONY after they got their feelings hurt when Michigan planted a flag in their stadium?
And ahead of the game, they even banned a television analyst from the Shoe.
Like I said, soft as baby sh*t.
Of course it’s not just any analyst. The controversial Michigan fan in question is Dave Portnoy, the outspoken founder and CEO of Barstool Sports, which recently signed a partnership with Fox Sports that will see Portnoy as a regular contributed on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff.
And where was Big Noon Kickoff this morning for week one of college football? At Ohio State for the school’s massive opening week matchup against the Texas Longhorns.
Portnoy still appeared on Big Noon Kickoff, but did not appear on the end of the show that takes place inside the stadium. And The Barstool College Football Show, which was scheduled to broadcast live from Ohio State, was forced to cancel their plans after Ohio State told them they weren’t welcome. (Don’t they have buildings on campus named after one of Jeffrey Epstein’s best friends? Just asking questions here…)
A source reportedly told Front Office Sports that Fox had anticipated having problems with Portnoy at Ohio State, and hadn’t planned on having him enter the stadium anyway.
The outspoken Michigan grad is well known for his trolling of the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day – and honestly, after Michigan has won their last three matchups, it seems like he’s earned the right to talk a little smack…
For his part, Portnoy didn’t seem to be too bothered by the announcement that he wouldn’t be able to enter the Horseshoe. After the news was posted, Portnoy responded with a photo of him wearing a fake mustache, a disguise that he used to get into Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta back in 2019 after having been banned from the event by the NFL.
You may remember that Portnoy was arrested during the game after NFL security caught onto what seemed like a foolproof disguise:
And he also had another Michigan fan in his corner who offered him tickets since he won’t be able to get in for work.
Conor Stallions, the former Wolverines grad assistant at the center of the sign stealing scandal, responded to Portnoy asking if he needed help getting into the game:
Despite the fact that he didn’t make it into the stadium, Portnoy still had plenty of fun trolling Ryan Day and the Buckeyes during his first appearance on the show:
I’m sure Fox knew what they were signing up for when they partnered with Portnoy. And if it was attention they were hoping for, he’s sure to deliver – one way or the other.
