Hinting at more than an album?
This week, the New Heights podcast released an instantly viral episode featuring Taylor Swift as a guest. The podcast, hosted by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his older brother, Jason, has garnered considerable media attention over the past few days, culminating in the release of Wednesday night’s episode.
During the show, the pop star revealed that her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3rd, along with discussing other music-related topics, such as buying back her master recordings and how The Life of a Showgirl came to be.
Also during her time on air, she discussed her relationship with Travis, sharing some memorable first moments from her rookie season as a WAG and recounting hilarious stories from their first date.
However, one piece of the conversation has Swifties wondering if she was planting Easter Eggs throughout the entire episode, leading to a much larger announcement than just her forthcoming record. (Funny that fans are picking up on potential Easter Eggs after she detailed how much she loves them during a portion of the podcast’s conversation).
Now, I am no Swiftie by any means, and I don’t know how some of her fans discover these Easter eggs at all. When I hear some of their theories, I am left thinking that A) connecting dots like this went right over my head, and B) how does someone with a full-time job have the capacity to figure out all of these potential Easter Eggs? Some theories that Swifties run with are far from the truth, but I have to admit this is not the craziest theory I’ve ever heard.
Grind City Media’s The Jessica Benson Show detailed a theory that Taylor Swift was dropping hints suggesting she will be next year’s Super Bowl halftime performer.
“I think Taylor Swift is going to be the Super Bowl halftime performer. I do. And you want to know why? I don’t think Taylor Swift is actually baking sourdough bread. I think it was an Easter Egg.”
During one portion of the episode, Taylor Swift discusses her granny hobbies, sharing that she enjoys painting, cooking, sewing, and, most recently, taking up baking sourdough.
“I have a different baking obsession every six months. Right now, we’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken up my life.”
She joked around with the Kelce brothers that she “talks about bread about 60 percent of the time now.”
Okay, got that context? Back to the Easter egg theory.
“Where is the Super Bowl this year? Levi’s Stadium, Niners play. Who’s the Niners’ mascot?”
Benson’s co-host then replies that the NFL’s team home is in Santa Clara, California, and the San Francisco 49ers team mascot is Sourdough Sam.
The theory continues:
“She said she’s thinking about sourdough 60% of the time. She’s going on and on about sourdough, how much sourdough she’s baking, 60% of the time. It’s Super Bowl LX in Levi’s Stadium. Home of Sourdough Sam. I think she’s doing the Super Bowl.”
But Benson is not done there. She thinks there is another Easter egg alluding to a Super Bowl performance:
“There’s another one too. There’s another piece of this. She said specifically, “Thank you for screaming for 47 seconds for me.’ Forty-seven seconds could be a connection to her Eras Tour stop at Levi’s Stadium- was her 47th stop on the Eras Tour.”

I mean… It’s not the most far-fetched idea I’ve ever heard. And although I’d rather have a country Super Bowl halftime performance, like we have been begging for years, I’d rather watch Taylor Swift on my TV over a rap artist. That might be a hot take for some, but you have to give the woman props… She knows how to put on one helluva show.
While this might be an Easter egg, I do think she is baking sourdough. Any girl ages 25-35 is trying to bake sourdough right now. Do you know how difficult it is to obtain a starter these days? Because let me tell you, my local farmers’ market sells out within 15 minutes of opening.
Only time will tell if this is an actual Easter egg or just another wild theory that Swifties have concocted. Take a look at some of the comments left on the post from Swifties, who agree or disagree.
“I think she really is baking bread.”
“She also said she wouldn’t play the Super Bowl until she owned her music again…. guess who owns her music again?!”
“INVESTIGATIVE. JOURNALISM.”
“Okay, but she absolutely is baking sourdough, haha.”
“God, I love us, we’re insane.”
“Swifties, including me, wouldn’t let any football fans get tickets.”
“I support this theory because the Lombardi trophy was also lying down in the background to signify the end of Kansas City’s era, AND she mentioned Josh Allen and Jared Goff… the Super Bowl will be Bills vs Lions, and she is the entertainment (showgirl).”
“She also said every 6 months she finds a new obsession, and right now it’s sourdough! It’s exactly 6 months away until the next Super Bowl in January!!!”
“She also mentioned knowing every halftime performance.”
“Not a fan of hers, but she would be better than the last 10 Super Bowl halftime shows lol.”
“What is 4+9??? 13!!!”
“As a Swiftie, I think she’s absolutely baking bread, but I also think she’s doing the Super Bowl.”
