Jelly Roll is expanding his acting career and working alongside one of the best actors and comedians, Kevin James.
Kevin James appears to have a major project in the works with his new friend Jelly Roll, and this project is related to his recent appearances in the country music space. James made headlines in June when he surprised everyone at a Jelly Roll concert by helping the rapper-turned-country-artist sing “Need A Favor.” James dressed up like Jelly Roll, which made the performance much more memorable. It was like seeing two Jelly Rolls on stage:

A month later, James made another country music cameo, but this time with Thomas Rhett. Rhett was performing at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in New York and brought out James to sing Teddy Swims’ portion of their 2024 duet “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman.”
“One of my favorite actors in the world is here tonight, and he wants to sing the second verse. Please welcome Kevin James to the stage.”

While these cameos have felt random, yet we are here for it, based on some information shared during a late-night TV appearance, it sounds like James has been immersing himself in the genre for a larger-scale project.
During Jelly Roll’s time hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he has James on as a guest. Early on in their conversation, Jelly asked if he was trying to get into the music industry. The two men joked around for a little while before getting real with James about why he’s been seen in the country space.
“All jokes aside, you have been prepping for a film, I know you’re excited about. You are coming into the country music space and you’re gonna shoot a country music film.”
James confirms Jelly Roll’s statement, responding with:
“It’s gonna be a crazy one, and you know how crazy it is because my man is doing it with me. You’re gonna be my partner in crime.”
Jelly Roll then says that he, too, is involved in this upcoming project.
“There is no way I would let Kevin James do a country music movie without being a part of it.”
Jelly Roll then shares that James joining him on stage was in preparation for this project.
While there are little to no details about the project, including release date, title, or concept, given how entertaining the two were on stage together, I can only imagine what this duo could be like on a big screen.

Jelly Roll Expands His Career Into Acting
Earlier this year, Jelly Roll stepped into a new chapter of his career: he made his acting debut on the CBS series Fire Country.
While some might have considered Jelly Roll’s appearance in Tulsa King his acting debut, the “Son Of A Sinner” singer played a character very similar to the country superstar he is in real life, making this TV appearance the first time he’s portrayed a character.
Even with this being Jelly Roll’s first time getting into a character, his Fire Country personality shares many similarities with his life, including the character’s name, Noah, which is the same name as his son. According to Us Weekly, Jelly Roll’s character is a healthcare worker and former convict who’s in the process of turning his life around.
His character description adds:
“Now, he works with patients like his mom, and their loved ones who struggle with saying their own goodbyes.”
Jelly Roll’s cameo in the show was also the perfect opportunity to debut his song “Dreams Don’t Die,” which was featured in his episode.
Jelly Roll did a great job in Fire Country and Tulsa King, and it appears those two gigs were just the start of Jelly Roll’s acting career.
