A new one coming from Luke Combs.
The North Carolina native is cooking up a lot of new music, with the promise of a new record coming next year. While fans were hoping for a new record this calendar year, following up on his deeply personal album, Fathers & Sons, Combs candidly told fans that he had taken a break for a little while to spend time with his family and his two boys. In a “get ready with me to go to the studio” video, Combs gave fans an update on new music and thanked them for their support during his brief break.
“In all seriousness, just wanted to get on here and thank you guys for allowing me to have this time off with my family. I’m really excited to get to spend time with my wife and the boys. I am at the studio… I’m actually already here in the parking lot.
Just kind of wanted to update you guys on everything going on with me. I know that I’ve kind of been dark on social media for a while. Just not doing it as much as I should. I think that just comes with being busy with the kids… that’s just kind of what my life has been. Being a dad.”
He pointed out his truck full of rubber duckies as proof. Then, Combs announced that we’ve all been waiting for:
“I’m getting back in the saddle here. Back in the studio. I’m very excited about that. We’ve got some awesome festivals coming up this year… just stuff that we’ve never done. Stuff that I’m excited about.
Got a big tour coming next year. I just kind of finalized a lot of the details on that here in the last week or so. New record coming up soon, new tour coming up. I’m excited and I’m back.”
As Combs returned to work, he shared with fans that he’s beyond confident about what he’s creating in the studio.
“I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on what my next record looks like, and as it begins to take shape, I can honestly say I’ve never felt better about one at this stage. It’s early on but I really do think it could wind up being the best record I’ve ever made.”
And luckily for fans, he’s not keeping it to himself. Since returning to the studio, Combs has resumed his regular practice of sharing teasers of new songs. From the new music he teased, Combs was very excited about a tune he “couldn’t wait to show” his fans, titled “Back In The Saddle.” Fans instantly fell in love with the song he wrote with Jonathan Singleton and The Brothers Hunt.
The gritty single seemingly depicts the story of a man returning to his old stomping grounds, feeling like he’s got his groove back, much like a cowboy who’s “Back In The Saddle.”

I’ve been waiting on a drummer to kick off a comeback song
I’ve been waiting in the wings like a dog on a chain
I can feel this fire building up a little while
Went and checked the wire, sure enough, there’s [life in him?]

Luckily for the fans who were begging for the song in the comments section, Combs is not gatekeeping the tune for long. Combs announced that he’s gifting “Back In The Saddle” to fans soon. Yesterday, July 16th, Combs shared on social media that it will be available everywhere on Friday, July 25th.
