Brooks & Dunn Joins Morgan Wallen For “Whiskey Glasses” In Miami…But Ronnie Dunn Needed A Cheat Sheet To Remember The Lyrics

Gotta make sure you don’t forget the words.

Morgan Wallen was in Miami this weekend for two stops on his I’m The Problem stadium tour. Night one featured Miranda Lambert and Gavin Adcock as the openers, and night two included Gavin along with the legendary Brooks & Dunn to kick things off.

As he often does, Morgan invited his opening acts out to join him during his headlining set. Gavin joined him for “Up Down” both nights, and on the first night Miranda once again took the stage with Morgan for “Cowgirls.”

He also invited Brooks & Dunn to the stage to perform with him on one of his biggest hits, “Whiskey Glasses.” But it looks like Ronnie Dunn needed a little help remembering the lyrics…

Ronnie could be seen pulling a piece of paper out of his pocket, presumably with the lyrics to the song just to make sure he got them right.

From the clips, it doesn’t appear that neither he nor Kix Brooks were actually singing along that much, but they did improvise a little bit and add their own flare to the song.

@Brooks & Dunn are absolute icons but they did not know the lyrics😂 #brooksanddunn #morganwallen #whiskeyglasses #imtheproblem #imtheproblemtour #fyp #foryoupage #miami #florida #follow #country #countryconcert #concert

I think it’s safe to say that this was probably a last minute decision to have them out there and not something that they had a chance to rehearse. And honestly, they’re Brooks & Dunn, two absolute legends, so I don’t really care what they do at this point. If they just want to walk around the stage, that’s fine with me. Still better than most country artists out there.

And in his defense, Ronnie’s not the only opener who needed a cheat sheet to remember the lyrics when called up to duet with Morgan.

Last weekend, it was Ella Langley opening for Morgan in Wisconsin, and during his headlining set he brought Ella back out to help with one of his fan-favorite songs “What I Want.” The album version features Canadian pop star Tate McRae from his monster 37-song album I’m The Problem. The record has dominated the charts and remained at #1 on the Hot 100 weeks since it has been out, and it also debuted at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart.

Several of Morgan’s friends are featured on collaborations, but it’s his first ever duet with a female artist that has been the early runaway hit, landing on the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 chart upon debut (which consists of singles, rather than the album as a whole). Morgan had six songs from the record debut within the top 10, and “What I Want” is Morgan’s fourth Hot 100 chart topper and McRae’s first (though some of her fans didn’t seem too thrilled about it).

Well with Ella getting the call up to help out on the duet on tour, apparently she wanted to make sure she nailed it on the big stage – and didn’t forget the words.

Ella shared a funny video on social media of herself writing the lyrics on her hand before taking the stage, just to make sure she had some notes to reference in case she froze in front of the crowd:

Can’t really blame her for wanting a cheat sheet just in case. That’s a lot of people, and Morgan’s fans are hardcore. Not to mention it’s the #1 song in the country right now, so you want to make sure you nail it during your big moment.

And if Brooks & Dunn can use a cheat sheet, nobody else should feel bad about it either.
