The next pop goes country artist.
Noah Cyrus is the next pop artist to dip her toe into country music. Her sophomore record, I Want My Loved Ones To Go With Me, is due everywhere on July 11th and features a few country collaborations.
It should not be surprising that Cyrus is making the crossover into country music, given that her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was a country star in the ’90s. However, because she did not kickstart her career in country music, she’s classified as a pop goes country artist. The youngest of the Cyrus siblings has primed her listeners for this, given that she performed with Midland at Stagecoach and CMA Fest this year.

But her upcoming record appears to be her full dive into the genre. Speaking on the album’s vibe, she said it shows what she’s had inside her the whole time and authentically reflects who she is.
“For a long time, I couldn’t really trust in my own choices. I had to learn how to make decisions for myself and make that transition into adulthood. But I’ve found who I am, I know who I am, and this record shows what I had inside me all this time. This album is me.”
She adds that I Want My Loved Ones To Go With Me has a nostalgic feel, connecting listeners to their past.
“I want this album to offer fans a sense of comforting, peaceful nostalgia. That’s something that I feel so heavily when I listen to music. We all want to connect with our past while also being aware of the present moment. Music does that for me, and this collection of songs was made with that in mind. I want to evoke that feeling of a comforting friend that a song can be — and allow us all to heal.”
Cryus also loops in some big names on the record, including Blake Shelton and the female powerhouse Ella Langley. According to KDHL, Noah Cyrus immediately thought about including Shelton once she “realized” she was making a country album.
“When I realized I was making a country record, just ‘Blake Shelton, Blake Shelton, Blake Shelton. Something kept telling me to get in touch with Blake Shelton.”
She shared the revelation at CMA Fest’s Spotify House, which is held at Shelton’s bar, Ole Red.

Noah Cyrus also tips her hat to her father on the record with a song called “With You.” Cyrus says this tune is the first song he ever wrote, and her recording will be the first time the song has been released.
I’m very interested to hear what their collaboration with Ella Langley sounds like. Before you go, check out a preview of her tune “New Country” featuring Blake Shelton.
She talked about the genesis of the song in a follow up post:
“I lost my horse Constantine when i was 16. He was sick, and we didn’t know, there were no visible signs. Except for his last day when it was just too late. It was earth shattering. Living a life without him, not going to see him every day, not riding horses for so long because it provoked so much pain inside me. My pappy always said “the out side of a horse is good for the inside of a man” and boy is that true. There were so many moments I just wished i had my best friend. At times, he was my only friend… I felt so alone, it was really hard for me to figure out and find normality in that new every day life that no longer included him…. that was a really big point in my life where I was forced to “find new country’.”
