It pays to look like Morgan Wallen.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of these look-alike contests that have been popping up more and more. The first one I ever saw was a Timothee Chalamet look alike contest, and the most recent one that’s popped up on my feed leaned more towards country music.
There was a Morgan Wallen Look-Alike contest on the University of Tennessee’s campus.
Now to be clear, it doesn’t look like this was an event sanctioned by UT. This looked to be more of a grassroots event, led my some students at Rocky Top. Especially considering the very basic (but effective) flyers that were hung up around the campus:
@lil_homeschool23 I think I can win this #morganwallen #universityoftennessee #morganwallentiktok #country #countrymusic #utk #lookalike #lookalikeedit #music #newmusic #foryou #fypシ #fyp #4yp #foryoupage ♬ I Ain’t Comin’ Back – Morgan Wallen & Post Malone
Remember back in college when your schedule could change just because you saw a flyer for something happening on campus? Simpler times.
Over 300 people showed up to the event to watch competitors attempt to take home the title of “Looks The Most Like Morgan Wallen” and claim the $100 prize. Even Tennessee basketball player Cade Phillips was there for the event, though it looked like he was more or less in charge of the proceedings.
The first round featured contestants explaining why they think they should win, with one college student saying he was a “medium ugly man with a mustache and a mullet,” and another claiming that he had been called “Morgan Walmart” countless times while out at bars.
Crowd applause levels decided who got to move on to round two.
In the second round, Morgan-Wallen-wannabes went one-on-one naming songs by the country music hitmaker. Competitors went back and forth until one of them was stumped. It made for quite the entertaining spectacle, and once again narrowed down the field of contestants.
The third round had the biggest upset of the entire event. There were four Morgan Wallens remaining, yet none of them won. Instead, the crowd clamored for the return of “Morgan Walmart,” who had been eliminated during the “name that song off” in the second round.
Those that had gathered then crowned “Morgan Walmart,” whose name is actually Alex, as the winner of the Morgan Wallen Look-Alike Contest. He had this to say when he was the last Morgan-Wallen-type standing:
“I kind of figured I had it from the start, but it threw me for a loop with the naming (of the songs).”

Congrats to Morgan Walmart… clearly a deserving, fan favorite who is now $100 richer because he looks like a guy who makes millions of dollars.
