Hudson Westbrook is already on to the next one.
The up-and-coming country music artist Hudson Westbrook stopped by the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast (brought to you by our friends at Rock the Country festival) to talk about growing up in Texas, being inspired by the music of his home state and artists like Parker McCollum, moving to Nashville to chase his country music dreams, releasing his debut self-titled album last year, playing Rock the Country, and much more.
The Texas native also touched on how he’s already got a smaller project and another album on the way, even though the young singer-songwriter just released his self-titled debut album back in November of last year. As he explains it, that’s just how the music industry works, and as an artist trying to prove himself, Westbrook is just following suit:
“We’re always looking for the next thing, you know? Just like everyone. We live in a microwave society, that’s for sure. We’ve been racking up the songs. We’ve got something super special coming in two weeks that no one can know anything about. But it’s absolutely insane. It doesn’t even seem real in my head. It’s a little package thing that’s coming out.”
It’ll be interesting to see what that “super special” something ends up being.
As for Hudson’s next album, it sounds like he’s already got one in a holding pattern. It’ll land as soon as the mixing is finished up, and the timing for the 20-year-old feels right. He describes his next album as entering into a “whole different era,” and considering it feels like his era was just kind of getting started, country music fans might be in for a sound that’s unlike what we’ve heard from Westbrook so far:
“And then we have an album ready. Not ready just yet. We’re mixing the vocals, mixing and mastering. And then the track list… we were actually listening to it on the way here to make sure everything fades in. But the album… I’m excited for it. Not a whole different vibe, but it’s a whole different era of Hudson Westbrook.”

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see when Westbrook’s Texas sound finds itself releasing another project. At the very least, it seems as though fans will get something from the young artist to hold them over in a couple of weeks.
