Pure country perfection.
Today, Ernest and Miranda Lambert released a classic country duet called “Another Thing To Love, ” which they wrote with Post Malone, Lou Bell, Austin Post and Ryan Vojtesak. The track is included on the inaugural project for Ernest’s new DeVille Records called Cadillac Sessions. He signed three new country artists in Chandler Walters (who plays steel guitar for Post), Cody Lohden and Rhys Rutherford. The project also features Snoop Dogg and Jake Worthington.
The lyrics of “Another Thing To Love” find them wanting to move on from heartbreak, sitting in a bar with “cigarettes and whiskey” to numb the pain, unable to conceive of loving anything else or ever finding it again:
“I came here to move on
Bartender better pour ’em strong
‘Cause I’ve got some things I need to drink about
Heartbreak, Lord, I’ve had those
And that silhouette in the shadows
Looks like trouble
That I could do without
‘Cause I’ve got cigarettes and whiskey

Ernest and Miranda’s voices blend beautifully, and the production has such a classic, cool country feel that accompanies the sadness so perfectly. I think both of them have a knack for writing these kinds of songs, so I’m not surprised it’s magic to hear the final product. They’re two mainstream artists who are committed, especially compared to many of the counterparts, to preserving this style of country music, and I really hope this isn’t the last of what they do together.
I also love the fact that Post Malone is a co-writer, because I think it shows off his chops for writing genuine country music that he’s spoken so much about loving, and this song is just a huge winner in my book.
