The perks of being a princess? Or something like that…
TIME Magazine recently announced their Time 100 list, which they do yearly and it always includes the most influential politicians, artists, actors, business people and more from all around the world.
And this week, many of the honorees gathered in New York City at the Time100 summit to discuss their brands and success, which included Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who is of course married to Prince Harry. They stepped back from royal life in 2020, but retained their titles, and moved out of Kensington Palace and into a California mansion following their decision to leave.
Meghan has drawn a lot of criticism for her handling of being a royal, and many overseas strongly dislike her for how she handled being in the royal family… obviously, they don’t have great relationships with Harry’s family anymore, and she’s kind of just an unlikeable person who always comes across as pretty entitled in the media. Some argue that the Royal Family has pushed the media to falsely paint her in a negative light… a Royal smear campaign if you will. And in all honestly, it’s probably a bit of both… the Royal Family may hate her, and they may even be a little racist as some have alleged, but she also truly seems insufferable.
She recently launched a new lifestyle brand, As Ever, which includes jams and other home goods like that, in addition to something I’ve never heard of before called dried flower sprinkles… for $15 a box. She used them a lot on her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and I have never heard of something like this in my life.
Selling $15 dried flower “sprinkles” is kind of an insane product, but her answer during the Time summit on how she feels about this product was crazy…
“Let’s talk about flower sprinkles… because I think it speaks to the tiny moments of joy that are so effortless and just create a little bit of magic that we’re all craving in our every day. They’re tiny little flower petals that are dry, I started putting them on salads. I started putting them on scrambled eggs. It didn’t actually matter… on a yogurt parfait.”
Hey, if you want to buy and use flower sprinkles, by all means, go for it, but the way she talks about these things as if they’re going to cure cancer is just so obnoxious:
Meghan Markle says she experiences “joy” everyday by putting flower petals on her food.

People on X obviously weren’t loving her very “let them eat cake”-esque approach to the whole thing, which feels so trivial and vapid in today’s world:
She always seems so impressed with herself…

Embarrassing for everyone involved.

Sickening triviality.

Omg, she is so exhausting.

She lives in a fantasy world

Pretentious, much?

“But…can’t the people just put flower petals on their salads and scrambled eggs? That will surely lift their spirits.”

I have absolutely no problem with her making whatever products she wants, and finding joy in whatever odd things she finds joy in, but much of her issues come from the fact that she has the inability to read almost any room, and it comes across quite poorly most of the time.
Especially considering the state of the world now and how much more important things there are that bring real pain, and real joy, that have nothing to do with dried flower petals. Like, eggs are $7 a dozen right now, and you want me to sprinkle $15 flower petals on sh*t? C’mon Meg…
I’m still obsessed with her wedding dress, though… it lives rent free in my mind, I’ll give her that:
