Morgan Evans has moved on from Kelsea Ballerini, but fans are not happy about it.
In 2022, Morgan Evans and the “Peter Pan” singer Kelsea Ballerini parted ways after being married for nearly five years. Since both Evans and Ballerini are involved in the country music industry, fans had a front-row seat to their split as both songwriters poured out their emotions through their music. They traded songs back and forth that detailing their sides of the story.
Ballerini’s Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP put things into perspective as she essentially called out every claim that Evans had made against her, and fully pitted her fans against him. The song “Penthouse” detailed many of their issues and her feelings about moving on, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Even years after the song’s release, fans still love to scream the “you got half” line during her concerts.
“It hurts putting sh*t in a box
And now we don’t talk
And it stings rolling up the welcome mat
Knowing you got half”
While Evans has remained relatively quiet since their divorce was finalized, and as Ballerini moved on with actor Chase Stokes, he recently did respond to one of Ballerini’s fans who yelled “F**k you Morgan” at a recent show.
Ballerini was also frustrated with the moment, asking her fans to move on:
“Guys, we have to stop saying that. Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now, I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please. Alright, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?”
@carlyrsilverman Update: I didn’t even hear what she was talking about until the comments! Good for her! #kelseaballerini #kelseaballeriniconcert #kelseaballerinitok #kelseaballerinipenthouse #penthouse #kelseaballerinilive ♬ original sound – Carly Silverman
Morgan Evans responded, sharing a video of himself in a hot tub in a tropical location, and said the following to the camera.
“I just found out that if you search ‘F*** you, Morgan’ on this app, you don’t get anything about Morgan Freeman, nothing about Morgan Wallen, it’s this guy. So from here on out, that’s what I’ll be responding to. So, f*** you, Morgan.”

In the background of the video, you can hear a woman giggling, which is important here. Weird to respond to a video about your ex-wife with your whole new girlfriend filming you… but the woman he was speculated to be with is the Texas bombshell, Laci Kaye Booth.
“That’s a Laci Kaye Booth giggle in the back.”
One fan commented on his “f**k you Morgan” response video.
While the two have not hard-launched their relationship on social media, she did recently introduce him as her boyfriend during an acoustic performance at Live In The Vineyard. Evans is a co-writer on Booth’s latest single, “Daddy’s Mugshot,” and accompanied her at the event as her guitarist.
“This is my boyfriend, by the way, and my guitar player.”
Booth introduces the crowd to Evans. The clip then cuts to her saying that she’s “in love with him,” in a very gushy manner, and Evans hardly acknowledges the sweet sentiment. Evans awkwardly chuckles at her saying that, and then the two dive into their performance of the latest single.
“Uh, anyway, this is ‘Daddy’s Mugshot.'”
Booth almost looks a little confused why Evans didn’t acknowledge her statement, but kept it professional and focused on the music versus her relationship.

Fans quickly clocked the awkward moment and filled the comments (brutally) roasting both Booth and Evans. Some fans were upset to see Booth fall for a man who had allegedly caused so much damage in his previous relationship, and others were calling Evans out for his reaction:
“YEAH SURE OKAY.”
“Imagine listening to ‘Rolling Up The Welcome Mat’ and letting yourself fall in love with the man who inspired every song lol.”
“He wasn’t claiming her for even a second.”
“You ever heard the EP called ‘Rolling Up the Welcome Mat?'”
“Dating someone even YOUNGER than his ex-wife, knowing that was a HUGE part of their relationship troubles, is diabolical.”
“Not round here, partner…”
“Poor girl.”
“Why did he not say it back?”
“Wait… for real or just joking?”
“LOL. Now Laci…..”
“Oh hell no.”
“Good luck.”
Given that they have been together for a bit, I’m choosing not to read too much into it. There’s also two sides to every story, and while Morgan was largely painted as the bad guy by Kelsea Ballerini, he remained relatively quiet on the matter. His song “Over For You” was relatively harmless, and he also teased one other song about the issue, but it was mostly about how much Kelsea kept publicly talking about it.
But to say the girls are not happy to see this pairing going public is a bit of an understatement… the Morgan Evans hate is real.
