Well, that settles that debate.
For years, there has been the question of who the real CCR is. Does it belong to Creedence Clearwater Revival or does it belong to Cross Canadian Ragweed?
When you do a quick search on Twitter for CCR, you get posts about both bands, which shows that fans refer to both groups as CCR.

Of course, many would argue that because Creedence Clearwater Revival has been around longer, they deserve the title of CCR. Some would also argue that they’re more commonly known by that, whereas Cross Canadian Ragweed generally goes by simply “Ragweed.” However, with the epic Boys From Oklahoma event in Stillwater, Oklahoma, taking place this past weekend, where Cross Canadian Ragweed reunited after 15 years of being broken up, the debate of who the title of CCR belongs to was reignited.
But… we have an official answer.
Randy Ragsdale, the drummer for Cross Canadian Ragweed, told the hosts of The Watering Hole podcast a story about Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty stopping by their dressing room, where they were officially named CCR.
“We opened for John Fogerty one time. We went down right after we got off stage, we went down in the dressing room and opened a beer, and somebody knocked on the door. And it was me and Grady, and he (John Fogerty) said, ‘Hey, can I come in?’ And I was like, ‘Absolutely.’ He was like, ‘I’ve always wanted to meet the real CCR.’
We laughed.”
Cody Canada then chimes in, piggybacking off of Ragsdale’s story:
“To add to that story, we had been given a cease and desist by Creedence Clearwater Revisited to quit using CCR. And we were like, man, when Fogerty comes calling, then we’ll listen, but when it’s revisited… I mean piss off, fellas. It’s not happening.
And then when he (Fogerty) said that we were like ‘Whew, okay, well we’re good.'”
I think that clears that up.

Hilariously, in the comments of the post, one woman said that the CCR debate ultimately led to the demise of her relationship.
“A guy once told me to turn on CCR to our date, and I turned on the one and only. He was like what the f**k, I meant Credence Clearwater and he later broke up with me. That was my sign.”
CCR has always been and will always be those Red Dirt boys from Oklahoma. Long live Cross Canadian Ragweed.
