As if concert beers weren’t already expensive enough…
It looked like an incredible weekend down in Stillwater, Oklahoma, when Cross Canadian Ragweed reunited for their first shows in 15 years for a four-night run at Boone Pickens Stadium.
What was originally scheduled to just be one show quickly turned into four sold-out nights that featured not only Ragweed but also Red Dirt legends like Turnpike Troubadours, Stoney Larue, Jason Boland & The Stragglers and many more.
Over 180,000 tickets were sold for the four-night run, which means a lot of concert beers were sold in Boone Pickens Stadium. But unfortunately, some people are complaining that they were overcharged – or even double charged – for those already overpriced beers.
As reported by KFOR, dozens of concertgoers have taken to social media to complain that when they checked their bank accounts the next day, they realized that the vendor at the stadium overcharged them, ran their card twice, or even added extra tips onto their total:
“We were charged 31 dollars for a single beer…”
“Check your bank statements. We got hacked for quite a bit of money”
“The bartender in the club liquor bar overcharged us for multiple drinks and ran my card twice to add a tip after I tip her $20 for an additional $31.”
“I was double charged every time. Several duplicate charges”
“My fiancé’s card has multiple charges for $60 and up when he was getting two beers at a time.”
“We got absolutely fisted. Charged me $400 for 6 beers.”
“I noticed that I got charged $93 for 4 beers. I went up and confronted the lady about it, she kept denying it and then decided she wanted to make it right by giving me 4 more beers.”
“When reviewing I noticed that 2 of the charges were wrong. I got charged an extra beer and added tip I did not consent to.”
“I made one purchase the entire concert and I have two different charges on my card for two different amounts.”
“I bought 2 beers 2x once it was $28.06 and the other time it was $21.56. Exact same ones both times so that doesn’t make sense”
The concessions at the stadium were operated by Top Tier Vending, LLC, a company based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and the owner is blaming the issues on problems with the stadium WiFi:
“Everybody’s on their cell phones, all that sound equipment and all the other electronic stuff going on there just wasn’t enough Wi-Fi in there to accommodate all our handhelds.
It wasn’t anything malicious or deliberate, but basically the situation was not adequate enough Wi-Fi and these people re-ran these credit cards two or three times.”
The company said they’re working on getting the issues straightened out, and Oklahoma State University, which also contracts with Top Tier Vending for their football games, says that they’ve only received two complaints so far:
“There were more than 200,000 transactions at the Boys from Oklahoma event this weekend and from that number, OSU Athletics has received two complaints, both of which are being looked into.”
Sounds like they’ll be getting more complaints soon…
