Jesse Daniel is saying the hell with New Music Friday and is dropping new music this Wednesday. Daniel released a new single from his forthcoming record, Son of the San Lorenzo, teaming up with Charles Wesley Godwin to deliver some wisdom to fans.
On the track, “Time Well Spent For A Man,” Daniel and Godwin take an honest and heartfelt look at the meaning of life, pondering what is important.
Daniel took a second to describe this song in his own words, noting:
“This song was written by Northern California songwriter Nick Foster. It is an ode to Father Time. To me, it’s also about focusing on the meaningful things in life. On our deathbed, we’ll remember raising our children, our spouse’s kiss, time spent doing what we loved, as opposed to how many hours we logged in the office.
I loved the message of this song and felt compelled to record it. Charles Wesley Godwin came to mind with the subject matter. He’s a family man and an incredible songwriter himself. His vocals really helped add to the depth of the whole thing.”
I’d echo that sentiment 100%… CWG was the perfect man to add as a feature on this track. Given that CWG is a family man with children of his own, he often intertwines his family values into his lyrics, and he understands the importance of having a strong family unit filled with love and laughter. His most recent record, Family Ties, was a testament to these strong family values.
The fiddle-soaked melody is a slight change of pace for Daniel, as he is known for his honky tonk, barroom bangers and his California country sound, but his vocals fit perfectly in this sweet and slow ballad. When Daniel and Godwin join forces during the chorus, their harmonies flood your speakers, driving home the deep meaning behind this song.

This song is the perfect reminder in the middle of your week to stop and smell the roses, literally and metaphorically.
