More teasing with no confirmation of an album or EP release date.
Is it just me, or do y’all also think Zach Bryan is getting some satisfaction from knowing that he’s keeping his fans all on their toes all the time? Zach Bryan has constantly teased new music throughout his career, but recently, it feels like we are getting a lot of breadcrumbs, with no promise of a sandwich at the end of the trail.
Zach Bryan has been teasing many projects in the pipeline, like an EP titled With Heaven On Top, which he promised would be coming soon back in February. However, since his initial post, we have not received any updates on this project.
“‘With Heaven On Top’ the EP is out sooner than not.”
Of course, I suppose “sooner than not” technically means anytime in the next few years, given that ZB continues to make music for the next decade. But the pragmatic definition would mean in the coming months.
Zach Bryan also teased a project with Matthew McConaughey: a film that will follow Bryan and his friends as they travel the country and record his final major label album.
“This is not a film about a band, this is a film about a boy from Oklahoma. A boy who joined the Navy, with a love of writing. That writing connected with people, a lot of people. This film is about a group of best friends taking a two-week motorcycle ride across America, while recording one final major label album. Oh, and the title of the film you ask? ‘Motorbreath.’”
But again, since that announcement in January, there have been no other updates surrounding the project. But given that’s recording now, maybe they’re working on it?
While there might be a lack of communication with fans regarding when we will get all of these projects, what there has not been a lack of is teasing new music. Since his very public breakup with the internet personality Brianna Chickenfry, it seems that ZB has leaned heavily into songwriting as he’s healed from that relationship and found a new love, an Australian woman named Hannah Duncan.
Bryan just spent a significant amount of time with Duncan down under in Australia recently, and teased some new songs while he was there, weaving their love story into lyrics. But with Zach Bryan now being stateside, we (hopefully) will get some updates surrounding new music soon. Bryan has been posting many clips to his Instagram story, being in the studio, and in a recent post, he told fans that he’s been in the studio more than the average musician. But… isn’t he always?
“Also, I’ve been recording like a crazy person and haven’t had the chance to thank everyone for my amazing gifts and my birthday party.”
In the following story slides and through his posts, ZB then shared a few images from his recent 29th birthday celebration.
“The love I have for everyone that made the trip is immeasurable. None of it went unnoticed, and I’ll remember it forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you x a million.”
Does this mean we are getting closer to finishing one of these few teased projects? Does this mean multiple EPs or a giant album is in production? I hope the answer is “yes” to one or multiple of the above questions.
At this rate, the next ZB album is going to have a 75-song tracklist given the number of songs he teases every week.
