The house that George Jones literally built is still on the market.

Are you interested in living in the house the legendary George Jones designed himself? You could make that dream come true if you a) are interested living near Nashville and b) can gather together a smooth $5 million.

Jones was known as a country music great, but if he had anything to do with the layout of this estate, he should also go down as quite the homebuilder.

The beautiful home is said to be a new listing, but it’s at least been on the market since October of last year. In fact, when it first hit the market, it was listed for $5.9 million. Now, only six months later, the asking price has dropped to a flat $5 million. Pretty good price drop if you ask me, and though it might be out of my price range, the home boasts plenty of amenities to justify the price point.

The Franklin, Tennessee home boasts over 9,000 square feet and sits on 25 acres. And it’s as good of a location as you could ask for being only 15 minutes from the historic downtown Franklin district and a half hour from downtown Nashville. With where the home is located, it’s clear that the “Possum” wanted to live a little bit in the country, but close enough to the action.

And the views that the Nashville-area home offers up are stunning. Jones’ former bungalow possesses plenty of character in the home itself, and the sprawling acreage that’s included only boosts the property value. The listing, courtesy of McEwen Group, went on to boast about the home’s bedrooms and bathrooms in addition to the farm buildings that come with the property:

“The expansive home sits privately on a wooded knoll at the heart of the property, featuring 4 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms with a gorgeous outdoor patio, swimming pool and pool house.

In addition to a guest house, farm has multiple buildings combining for several thousand square feet that could be used for a variety of purposes such as shop work, hobbies, equipment storage, office space, event hosting and livestock accommodation.”

As George Jones once sang, “Mama Take Me Home.” That house is a BEAUT.

If the video above sparked your interest, you’ll also enjoy looking through some of the photos that’s included with the listing. Whether it be the exterior of the home, the music notes on the gate, or the gorgeous grand staircase, every angle of the former home of George Jones is breathtaking. To be honest, I figured it would have already been snatched up by a wealthy Nashvillian (and potential George Jones fan) by now.

Based upon the pictures that are included in the listing, it truly looks like a country music fan’s dream house. The music notes on the private gate are a nice touch, and you can see that and more in the snapshots from the house that the “Possum” had a hand in building:
