Not sure I’ve ever heard disdain come through someone’s voice more clearly.
When you are in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, you’re more than likely going to run into some bears. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park (which is annually the most visited national park in the country) is estimated to be home to around 2,000 bears. Considering there’s about 340,000 bears that live in the United States, that number is nothing to sneeze at.
And everybody loves a good bumbling bear video, right? Anytime a wild animal does something that’s out of the norm, it can make for quite the entertaining clip. Sure, watching a bear do normal bear things is intriguing, but there’s just something about seeing a wild animal enjoy a hot tub that tops everything else.
It happens more often than you would think, and it’s assumed that bears seek out pools and hot tubs because it help them cool off and or warm up (they don’t have sweat glands, and regulate their temperature through their paws). And watching this clip below, it’s very clear that this was not the bear’s first time plopping down in a whirlpool. The big ol’ boy made a beeline straight towards the hot tub and made itself right at home.
The bear wasted no time getting the jacuzzi cover off and getting into the warm water as the sun rose over the beautiful mountain landscape off in the distance. I hope that the large bear was able to get some rest and relaxation in, because the guy was irate with what he was seeing.
In the video, you can hear him in the background providing this commentary that gave off “I’ve never been more annoyed in my life” vibes:
“This bear walked over my coffee. It’s about to jump down… oh my gosh. It just knocked my jacuzzi top over, and now it just got in my jacuzzi. Yes, it’s getting warm. It’s just having a blast. It is in the jacuzzi. I’m glad I wasn’t in the jacuzzi. There’s a black bear in the jacuzzi getting warm. Unbelievable.”
God forbid a black bear take a dip in the hot tub, am I right?
Obviously, the guy renting the cabin is a little worried that the bear is going to do some damage to the jacuzzi. And rightfully so, considering the video shows the wild animal trying to eat the filter that was floating in the water. The comical video paired with the irritated commentary from the man behind the camera puts this in the running for my favorite bear-hot-tub-video of all time.
If you ask me, the highlight is when the guy is asked by someone off camera “Did you speak to it?” That’s not a question that you ask a man who is currently upset by and preoccupied with a big ol’ bear taking a dip in his whirlpool. He answered that question accordingly:
“No I didn’t speak to it, it’s a black bear. They’re bad bears. They can be mean.”
I’ve never seen someone get so pissed off by a bear trying to get a little R&R… most people would be excited to see a bear while on vacation.
All in all, it’s a hilarious clip, and you can view the laugh-fest in its entirety in the video below that was posted by Tourons of National Parks:
