Take me out to the White House.
The 2024 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers will be stopping by the White House next month to celebrate their World Series win. In case you forgot, the Dodgers – who basically have the baseball version of the Avengers as their roster – took down the New York Yankees last October, winning the seven-game series 4-1 (it wasn’t ever close).
This comes after it was announced that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs would be stopping by to see the President in the coming months as well. If you are confused by that, President Trump didn’t invite both the winner and the loser of this past year’s Super Bowl intentionally. The Eagles got an invitation because they won, and the Chiefs were also extended an invite to make up for the visit they never got to take in 2020 (because of COVID).
So Trump is apparently going to stay busy welcoming championship teams to the White House.
Because now, the likes of Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani will also visit the Commander in Chief’s abode after President Trump invited the Dodgers team to the White House to officially recognize them as the MLB’s best from last season (they’re unfortunately very likely to visit 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue A LOT in the next decade or so).
Championship teams across all leagues are typically extended invitations to visit the White House, though that visit doesn’t always happen immediately. Obviously this trip for the Dodgers will be six months removed from their World Series win, but better late than never, right? There were some changes happening at the White House in those six months, so it makes sense that it took a while for LA to be invited.
It’s great to see that Donald Trump is prioritizing the tradition of champions visiting Washington D.C. after their season concludes, and on the same note, it’s wonderful to see teams accepting the invite. The Los Angeles Dodgers officially announced yesterday that they would be making the trip to visit the President – and Capitol Hill – when the team is in town to play against the Washington Nationals:
“In keeping with long-standing baseball tradition, President Trump has invited the 2024 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House when they play in Washington D.C. on April 7. The Dodgers look forward to visiting the White House and celebrating our title. In addition, members of the Dodgers will visit Capitol Hill on April 8.”

As a baseball fan, I typically don’t like the Dodgers. In a sport without a salary cap, they’ve seemingly figured out how to throw massive amounts of money at baseball’s best players (by deferring salaries to a later date, which I still don’t understand), thus creating an intimidating and seemingly unstoppable super team that’s somewhat managed to take the fun and spontaneity out of baseball.
That being said, at least they are visiting the White House. I can respect that…
And who knows, maybe we’ll get another viral video like this one below. Cody Bellinger is no longer a Dodger (he’s a Yankee now, after a stint with the Cubs), so someone else will have to step in as the Dodgers’ resident (alleged) pot head:
